Anyone here used the Healthy Gear card at Sportsman's WH/Totalsports?

Assuming all the assessments have been done, and the 25% is valid.

How much did you get back for a purchase, of a single item, worth more than R4k? Should be R1000... Or am I missing something?

As with most of Discovery's Cash Back schemes there is a catch... The screenshot below is the explanation they give. The following bit has me really confused:

"Together, they can earn cash back on a maximum of R4 000 they spend on HealthyGear in a month as long as they have earned enough Vitality points at the time they buy HealthyGear."

In the first month, January, the R150 is 25% of R600 (Jan) and R40 is 10% of R400 (Jan).

But what does this mean?

"The total they can earn cash back on based on their Vitality points (you minus the accumulated Vitality points from the accumulated qualifying spend to get the qualifying amount they can earn cash back on).

Total spent is R1950, so how do they get R1000 for the qualifying spend?

Edit: okay, I've worked out the dumbass statement of how they get R1000. If my Vitality points are close to 100,000 the qualifying spend should be R4000 (max value), so the 25% discount should be R1000, correct?

It's a theoretical max, linked to your vitality points at the time of purchase. An either / or, if you will. 25% back (on primary store purchases) subject to an overall limit of 25% of your Vitality Points tally OR R 4,000 p/m - whichever is lower.

Essentially they're saying that your qualifying spend is limited by your vitality points. So because they had 1,000 points in Jan, even though they spent R 1,950, they only qualify for cashback on R 1,000 spend.

If they'd spent R 4,000 on Healthy Gear (just at TS) then even though they COULD get R 1,000 back, they would only get R 250 back as they've only accumulated 1,000 points.

Also - Healthy Gear Spend at your primary store accumulates to the benefit first.

But, if you've done the fitness assessment you have at least 5,000 points anyway (hopefully) then another 12,000 or so from the online questionnaires which you should do as soon as the new year starts. So the Vitality Points limitation shouldn't  ever come into it. Shouldn't

Thanks Myles!

Looks like a pending purchase is on the (healthy gear) cards then... :)

I've heard rumours of reintegration with Strava. But that could be a while off.

MMF still allows for user uploads, so that's probably the reason it got canned.

So now, it's Apple, Samsung Gear, Garmin, Suunto, Polar, Fitbit HR. Fitbit got reintegrated earlier this month... as did suunto.

Im currently on a 3 month gap with my watch payments thanks to a ruptured acl and a few other injuries.

Guy on the phone said they are changing the points again in a few days as i was worried about meeting goals when i am allowed to walk again - his words were, "you might not be able to run 5km, but you could walk 5km, so we will be giving you points for that". Said something should come out within next 2 weeks from Monday.

So holding thumbs!

I have a sneaky suspicion that their target market(mostly sedentary) have become so discouraged by the points that they are revising things again.

It would be very interesting to see the actual figures and stats from when it was first launched to where it is now in terms of exercise.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Been the longest 2 weeks I've ever heard of, from at least 3 weeks ago!

My Faith in Vitality have been restored for the time being. Disc just send me a message that the Suunto Problem have been resolved and is now working 100%.

Will go for a Run tomorrow morning and see if it works.

I have a friend who is a dev for vitality, I doubt I would get any actual stats but I should ask about the decline, because Im really sure there is one.

Nothing they do will affect the people on this forum in all honesty, we love cycling and dont need points as motivation to get outside. The people who need an incentive to do anything active are a different story though!

Dude. I'd be bugging him harder than an 18 year old Amish boy trying to get a glimpse of a porn mag...
