Maybe it's a way to adhere to some shareholding requirement of opening a new bank, in that they needed to ensure a certain base level of black share ownership, and not just giving them to a few directors / key persons / employees

A BBBEE share allocation, if this is/was the case would be to sell shares to everyone for a nominal amount, say R1/share or less and ring fence 10% of the shares for BBBEE only.

 

That way it precludes no one, has a share value suitable for the disadvantage to buy and gets their quota for ownership.

That those shares are given out, free of charge, is what is being railed against. 

 

But that's the thing about this country that detests me the greatest. This belief that you should get something for nothing. Until that mentality is reversed, we will never move forward.

Ive been phoned up three times by Discovery in the past week asking if I want a quote for car insurance from them. I assume this is because of the Vitality open where they can assess my driving behavior and they have decided I am a good risk, but i really hate being cold called like this. Is there any way i can get them to stop calling? (And please don't say take out insurance with them)
