Please be aware that Buycycle.co.za do not reflect accurate stock on their website. I ordered some parts  marked as "in stock" on their website. A few days later they called to tell me their supplier does not even have the stock (nevermind themselves, as per their website) and they then tried to downgrade me, but at the same price. After some arguing they agreed to give me a refund for the difference (after they "made a mistake" when they told me the downgrade was the same price) and send me the downgrade part.

Now it is about 10 days later and still no parts have been delivered.

I have tried to use their chat function on their website, which showed as online, but there was no reply. Also no reply to emails and no answer when using the phone number on their website.

FYI, use it, don't use it.

I am hopeful to get my parts at some point in the future.

I have never had an issue with them before... Was it during the black friday sale? Not making excuses but a few orders do go wrong with a few online shops during major sales due to the volume of orders they receive... I guess they should be prepared for it though... But ya, don't agree with them trying to down grade your order.

I've had that exact issue with them before years ago. They then tried to convince me that I didn't really need a 140mm travel fork. 100mm was more than adequate.

Hahahaha are they so thick to think that a person who wants 140mm is really going to take 100mm of travel they must be stoned. There prices are nowhere near any of the other online stores either.

Don't know anything about the 'Bruce' connection but what I've ordered has always arrived pretty quickly and was a decent price. Tried to buy a few things during the black Friday / Manic Monday sale and they specifically said they didn't have stock and I couldn't buy. Have heard this gripe about them before but it was a while back, never experienced it so can't really say.

Sorry if this is a hijack.

It seems that all the online stores are slow to reply on emails. A while ago I damaged my XT rear wheel's axle and filled in an enquiry on all the online stores that I know off. Chris Willemse Cycles came back to me about 3 weeks later, still waiting for the others to respond.

About a month ago I bought I spec B shifters and needed an adapter to fit them to my handlebar. Again completed the whole enquiry form on all of their websites if they have the specific KCNC adapter that I saw on the internet or an alternative. A couple of days later I received a response from CWC on if its M980 or M985 shifters, I replied to that mail and silence again.

Seems the small amount of business I will provide them isn't worth their effort or time.

Wish I knew all of this before I ordered. I  ordered from them (ironically) because they were one of the only places that all the items I wanted in stock. And it was not during the sale or anything, just a standard purchase.

Hello Ewald,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience on the site. Please allow me to explain what might have happened.

We have recently partnered with a retailer that has 3 fairly large stores, this simply allows us to have access to more stock and brands to sell. In the past we only relied on suppliers to give us stock sheets to work from. The partnership with the stores are supposed to give us better delivery time and actual stock to ship. The gremlin you experienced is something we are working on at the moment, essentially:

- We update our stock sheets daily, but if someone buys the item in the store on that specific date our system still shows as in stock and does not update immediately.

- We then resort to the distributors to find the item if the store does not have any left.

- If the distributor is also out of stock we try to manage the situation by finding an alternative.

In this case we've failed miserably and would like to apologise. We're continuously working at improving the system and rants like this motivates us to be better.

I'm working with the team to find out where in the process.

Our team will be in contact.
