you got the timeline wrong i think. Ozone therapy he's claiming was sep 2013, he's banned from march 2014(Epic). So it's six months apart - whether that is related is hard for joe public to know.

From Twitter - seems to be some genuine confusion with the dates

@Scienceofsport Not true. SAIDS report starts exactly 13 October, 2013, not what they released. When I have your mail I can send details.

Why not.

By that logic, I am going to dope! I will take EPO until Gauteng Champs. Then if anybody beats me, they must be doping too!

I am playing a bit of Devil's Advocate here...but if the chemical brothers as we have come to know them are doping....and in the light of the discussions over in the Strava thread...I became inquisitive and went stalking.....could we then assume that anyone who takes Max's KOM on a 9.6 km. climb could possibly be clean.......

Yeah, it's not a bad list...

Meintjies, Carla Swart (rip) Anke Erlank etc, SA has very talented athletes they just arent exposed to what they need in order to shine and show their potential.

It's not always as simple as that or always an extreme of completely clean or super dirty.

Nobody is saying that World Tours are clean!! Who would be so naive?

But one can confidently say that the doping in World Tour level is lower and less frequent simply based on the scrutiny that they are under.

As for saying that World Tour are faster than local heroes bcause they dope, that's not accurate either.

Out local guys have not made it to world tour level because they are not good enough, not because world tour riders are dirty.

Again I wasn't comparing local riders to international riders but rather recorded times up recognised climbs all over Europe.

I'm glad you can confidently say that doping is lower. Not sure what you base this on as evidence suggests that micro-dosing will go undetected and we're not even talking about the next level of gene doping.

Yeah, the comment that Evans made about it only coming out now suggests the matter was brought up before. No one knows when results were detected - only timespan they cover - nor when the detections were made known to Evans.

If guys in general are being caught with EPO, testosterone and ABP then no Vet will get it better than the clan of guys who have been caught as of late. They seem to know their way around this stuff better than any Vet and his Dr.

No, I dont believe that.

Middle class competitive athletes with money to burn and time on their hands make quick learners and good students.

I would like to play devils advocate here and say that the talent in youngsters at the moment in SA bar a few is pretty low and that is allowing Strong Vets mainly 30-39 show faces in races. Especially in Marathon type events where age and experience actually does play a role.

What if the local pro scene is actually stopping us from producing top riders?

What if the talented riders made a bit of a name for themselves here and then went overseas to see if they really have it? Robbie did it, Greg did it, Burry did it... Ashleigh is doing it. Is the local pro team stepping stone really needed?

Is it not maybe too easy here, so riders don't bother with the real big time... it's probably quite lekker to sit here and be idolised for being the 860th best cyclist in the world.

We have the best mountain bike races in the world, but the riding competition is not here because the money in Mtb is in the Olympic sport of Cross Country - which also happens to be the more spectator friendly sport. Look at Attakwas, our guys were nowhere, against riders who aren't nearly the best in the world.

Late Bloomer  :whistling:

I believe Micro-dosing is pretty much the norm... even here in SA I would pretty much almost expect it of any top level rider not getting the results he/his sponsors want. You can't really test for it... and especially not on the finish lines of races where SAIDS do most of their work

testosterone? anyone who knows anything about meds in sport knows that test, in any dose above TRT level, *detracts* from endurance ability, because it causes nasty sides like raised hematocrit, increased water retention - and cycling's all about power/weight ratio... Gotta love the armchair experts with nothing better to do than nitpick other dude's lives eh..

You might remember how Wada and the UCI got their knickers in a twist when that Frenchman showed how easy it was to beat the ABP last year...

Now, get a vet who works for an IT company to get their hands on the software... :whistling:

ah man, its 2016 - no prizes for puritanical zealots.. anyone over 30 doing any kind of training will enjoy benefit from some HGH or other decent peptide - no side effects, unlike AAS. Do some research, ask your doctor, get a prescription if the nanny-state mentality scares you. One life, live it, like the landy lads say..

Do what you want dude. Whatever blows your hair back. But if you were my kid's school coach and fed him this junk I would come after you and hard.

If you set your standards low enough you will always hit them.

Enjoy your pilletjies etc.
