Glad to see you are alive!

Was it you who crashed?

No. One of my team mates, FlyingScot. But I stopped and stayed with him till they put him in the ambulance. 2 broken ribs, plenty roasties and a lot of pain but otherwise he is ok.

My first ride with the elites. Was really cool to be stretched like that but at the same time really concerning to see first hand how many accidents they have. Okes were hitting the deck hard, and not necessarily on tricky parts of the route. Felt a bit like Russian roulette with you not really having any control over the situation or what happens immediately in front of you. Any other elite riders that can confirm whether that's normal or was yesterday unusually bad in that respect?

For the last few Km's I had a dropped elite in the small group I was with and the oke road like a tjop. If that's how some of the guys ride I am not suprised there are lots of crashes. There where a few times he was behind me and his front spokes where so close to my derailer that had I needed to swerve for something even just the smallest amount we would have collided.

But TBH I don't think its got anything to do with elite. Its everyone. Some people just don't ride smart. The elites are just going so much faster they crash harder.

Didn't race elite yesterday as I'm still recovering from a bad crash.

It is normal and racing through the streets doesn't help matters. There is normally at least one crash in the elite bunch every race. just look at the TDF and how many guys normally hit the deck in the first few days.

Sorry to hear,

From what I could see it did look serious

Did he loose the front?

I hope he recovers soon

For those planning on a sub 3 in 2017, here's my secret  :

Just out of curiosity, was this dinner the day before or breakfast on the day? If breakfast, how long before your ride?

What type of pasta is that- durum wheat, gluten free?

I usually eat some pasta at dinner, but hear some guys eat pasta as breakfast.

My race report from yesterday’s pedal around Joburg.

Nice report, seams you suffered out there.

Interesting looking at your IF and TSS, either you rode on the absolute limit or you slacking on your FTP tests. :P
