Death to the saddle bag...long live the saddle bag!

I don't carry bulky stuff in my shirt pockets anymore.

With the J2C I had an OTB moment, and landed flat on my back. The small bottle of sunscreen I had in my left side pocket gave me a good punch in the kidney, injuring me so bad that I had to abandon the stage at 92km, and could only ride the next day with the assistance of an Voltaren injection and a Cataflam tablet or two.

Imagine if this was a multitool or something else with more substance.

Agree this can happen. Funnily enough on my last ride sans pack I had a very sudden OTB thanks to a hidden sniper stump. I landed on my head and back and got away very lightly so it all depends...

This is not very easy on the eye...

People want to strap things to their frames, attache funny bomb holders to their bikes and put funny bottle cages behind their seats, but they refuse to carry a hydration packs   ^_^

I have enough stuff in my hydration pack to service the mtb tandem on the trail.  I am used to the weight

Specialized has this Bandit saddle thingie, but it requires one of their SWAT compatible saddles because it screws into the underside.

Ah-ha. Is that what those screws are for

I'm totally confused as to this is in anyway better than a decent saddle bag. It just looks like stuff is going to go everywhere and get covered in ***.

This looks a decent option for those offended by the Fanny pack look of most saddle bags.

Was going to be uncool and order one of these for my roadie if I can find a local seller.

This all has to happen in conjunction, then you are able to ditch the tools and the saddle bag all together.

I want to get rid of my saddle bag on the mtb but don't know where to put all my stuff. Maybe some of the hubbers can assist by posting photos of their set up. I'll list all the shjit in my bag and you can please tell me where to stick it.

1. 29er tjoop

2. tire levers

3. tjoopless repair kit

4. CO2 bombs and inflator

5. chain tool

6. allankey

7. en klomp ander k@k

Thanks in advance. :D

Replace the 29 tube with a 26 one. Save space and works nicely.

I agree but there is no denying that riding without a pack feels gooood~!

I have a spare tube fitted under my saddle with quick release cable ties. Keep 2x CO2 bombs and valve in baggies with 2 allen keys. Tire levers in my jersey.

Spez's Chain breaker that fits in the steerer tube is genius, but a little iffy to work with.

I also have a Camelbak that I use on 3+ hour rides in summer time. Although it's not a nuisance and I don't notice it, I actually feel slower with it.

Let's not forget the resurgence of the actual fanny pack not that it's becoming a #Enduro staple.

Nah... me neither. That looks as comfortable as slipping on the budgie smugglers and spending a day on the Camps Bay strip. Just not good for anyone.
