The laaitie has since become a pretty decent doctor, but I still don't trust his diy skills. Ironically, he now drives a Land Rover.

Would you let him operate on you ???

Hout mense!

My kids want a bunk bed, I want some new tools.

What is the view on those pocket hole jigs? They look pretty nifty! Looking at the Kreg one, thoughts?

Also looking at a small router to make the edges lekker. - Saw a "mini bosch blue one" any thoughts?

I already have a circular saw and some chizzles and plane.

Was thinking building a bunk bed may be rad, will pop into my wood place to check out some pine prices.

What age kids are they and what do you want the function of the bunk bed to be.

You can do a conventional bunk bed .... if this is the case, it would probably work out cheaper just to buy one, or you can play around a little more where you can create a desk and bookshelf or what'eva on the lower level ....

Both my boys have had bunk beds off the shelf from a timber shop in the area, and on both occasions it was cheaper to just purchase from them...the quality has also been rather good.

Agree, if you go buy Pine PAR from your local hardware store you'll end up paying around R30k/m^3 for the wood - that's about what you pay for oak from a wood supplier.

You sir have made my day! I will pop to the tool shop this weekend and have a look. I see there is the small R500 odd jig or a 1000 bucks set vibe, any real difference?

You just need the jig and some screws sized to the timber you will be using.

There is a chart on the back of the boxes which will tell you which length you need.

They might seem expensive but they are good quality screws and worth it in my opinion.

Remember with the router that it uses 1/4" shank bits, so just be aware of that when buying your roundovers etc.

Do yourself a favour and get prices from Airton Timbers (Retreat) Ask for trade price.

That makes sense because you can pop rivet those together, little need for welding.
