Terrible Bike service

This is a strange one. You say you have had years of great service and then one day terrible service.

Its a bit odd to go from amazing to super bad in a day or so and maybe just a communication issue. Is this a new person that assisted you?

Could this not have been addressed with the manager/owner at the time?

It only takes one *** experience to lose a loyal customer.

Surely though you could give them the benefit of the doubt if youve had only one *** experience in many a years of dealings.

Seems, if "the principle" of R350 is so important that it can't wait for the owner to return from a trip abroad, it could the kind of loyal customer the shop may be happy to lose

This is another one of those 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' threads...

Guys will pick a side, tell you you're whining and rubbish while others will tell you to stand by your principles bla bla bla

I miss the old days when bad service meant you sorted it out and didn't have to tell everyone while not telling anyone because, well, we don't actually know what store it is.

You would then say to your mates while riding, 'yoh... that new oke at X store is only a cardboard box hey'... they would listen and agree and tell you to chin up, moer him or go to their favourite shop and that would be the end of it...

Instead these days we have 700 page He said, she said your mother said pages of ill equipped people spreading opinion as gospel.

Deal with the issue.

If you want a sympathetic ear history will tell you this is not the place... If you want name and shame, by all means Swen will tell you it can get nasty.... But being iffy about something while complaining wa wa is just going to start some nasty differences of opinion.

My advice? Pay the dude your R350 car guard money, complain to your mates who have 'got your back' and move on. Like we did before social media and internet shenanigans... That or start a Swen Lauer hate thread...... that was fun

You mean Swen Lauer, UCI Accredited Coach, hate thread.

Knowing the piranhas on the hub, I would have posted this once the issue was resolved. Where I hope you have more respect for said owner for how he deals with the issue.

Are you the sales guy at said shop?

This. If you haven't had feedback from the owner, and he was out if the country, why did you think posting here would expedite the process? If things are as you say, a reputable owner will rectify things. (God bless my LBS who are great to me!)

If not, then bring it to social media.

I don't know whether to be offended or not as you didn't use italics....

No. I am not a salesman and by the sounds of things neither is the dude from the shop!

See though? My point... Threads like this start all sorts of unnecessary nasty finger pointing and ill mannered accusations.

Shut it down until the owner has resolved the issue (or not)... everything said in the interim will just bring mayhem..... (cue Myles)

Learn to work on and service your own damn bikes.... its fun and you get time to spend away from idiots that's going to stuff up your day by giving you bad service...

If in the end its bad service you received you only have yourself to blame!

Said in general...

It's fun? I fricken hate it. I don't mow the lawn, service my car or wash it, paint my house, clean my windows or service my bicycle.

We all have our own ideas of fun I suppose.

because even when out of country in some small armpit of a town with internet temperamental than a (choose and insert your most favourite type of person or genre of slander here) "who know what" the owner, or most hubbers for that matter, will manage to dial into the bikehub to pick up on the latest general discussions ....... or the lady pro\s thread....or both.
