Nope can't use mx gloves for mtb. Due to the specially designed slip mx gloves have for improved smooth throttle application it will just permanently feel like your grips are throttling. Well your right grip.

Yes. 100% correct but you can offset this by running your brakes "non Moto style"

I'd suggest getting a proper bike fit tho.

MX gloves - durable and tough, you can get one's that are very thin with zero padding on the outside and minimal on the palm. So no bunching with a tight fit (MX riders will know what I am talking about)

MTB specific gloves - made from candy floss.....

Get MX gloves, they will be fine....

I have been using a pair of Fly and a pair of Thor gloves for years .

The Thor pair hove no padding on the back of the glove , the Fly has padding .

To be quite honest I cannot tell the difference .

Have never owned a pair of proper MTB spacific gloves .....

I've been using my Fox MX gloves for the last four years.  I used them on my enduro motorbike (including a few crashes, some at high (for off road) speeds.  When I sold the enduro bike they became my MTB gloves.  Awesome for winter - warm enough without ever overheating.  They eventually wore through on the white mesh part at the front of the finger, but half an hour with a needle and thread and they're good as new again!  Seriously these things are indestructible!  And they've covered (likely) thousands of km's.  Comfy too.

Fox Pawtector FTW.

And they match my cycling kit :)

I've been using Answer, Fox, Alpinestar, Fly Racing and the best I ever had was Thor gloves. Will never buy MTB specific. Last pair I bought was Fly gloves - R350.

Got myself a pair of Answer gloves at the flee market, I think I paid like R150. Been two years now and still going strong. The only things is the have almost no padding but I guess you get use to it.

pawtector or dirtpaw have been my goto gloves for a long time now.  Tried other brands, but keep coming back to Fox, specifically the pawtector or dirtpaw. Very lekker glubs.. on a whiim, tried the airline shivs, and they damn awesome. don't get as warm as the pawtectors or dirtpaws.

These are awesome...Mechanix!

I used both mx (currently have a very warn set of alpine stars) and mechanix gloves. Don`t see the reason I need to spend all that extra for cycling cloves. Always ride full finger as well, summer / winter.

Just found that the mechanix gloves are more prone to tear. Had a small tumble and that was their end. On the otherside, the alpine stars are finally ready to be replaced after about 4 years of good service

My first pair of gloves which i bought a year ago were oneal mx gloves from full throttle , cant remember how much i paid but i know they were a lot cheaper than MTB specific gloves.

Used them for quite a few months without any hassles before i got a bargain on dakine MTB gloves from the billabong store.

Cant say there is much difference between the two.
