I agree with Brickelberry here.

I saw tons of Gel wrappers on the road today - its terrible - even if clean up crews are employed, cycling is meant to be a clean / green sport.

I had 2 and both went straight back into my pocket to be thrown away after the race. The shirt goes into the wash afterwards anyway.

Name and shame......the more cyclists that get to know that littering is not acceptable the better it is for all of us! It takes nothing to place the wrapper in your pocket to be disposed of later! We want to be known as eco-friendly, considerate sports people not inconsiderate litterers!!

Shame on you Mike!!

Many months ago Club 100's irresponsible behaviour nearly caused a serious accident in Cedar Road. They didn't bother to respond to e-mails or telephone calls. I regularly still see the same behaviour from them.

Ag piss off

Really great and constructive input from you there, as per usual!

Makes such a positive contribution to uplifting cycling, and really help to change the negative perceptions that the community at large have of cyclists

The next time you see a guy toss a wrapper:

Ride up to him and tell him that you've got space in your pocket for an extra wrapper. If he want's, you'll carry it for him to the finish...

Normally gets a slightly embarrassed response, rather than the agro shouting match that normally ensues!

Agree with the no littering [emoji106]

Probably a bit of a hijack, but since you brought it up, I wanted to raise an interesting observation, namely that the "cycling" you are referring to here is definitely not green! Can you imagine the footprint of everyone driving/flying to the Amashova?

I terms of being green or not, I would classify cycling into one, sport and two, commuting. Only the latter is green.

Like I said, just an interesting observation and not trying to detract from the thread!

Don't litter [emoji111]

I think its a bit unnecessary to start a whole thread just because someone threw a gel wrapper on the ground. We all know littering is wrong but in my opinion theres a big difference between dropping a sticky gel wrapper in a race situation where clean up crews are employed compared to littering on your local sunday ride.

Just my 2 cents

You are kidding right???
