You can also Google that Bardet is saying he was ill before the start of the TT and is the reason he is giving for the poor performance

Looks like 'being ill' is a common trend for all non winning competitors... and non racing competitors at some races! (in the start chutes at IM 'everyone' is recovering from illness/injury/is still on their death bed/hasn't been able to train for eleventeen weeks).

Being ill is unfortunately no excuse for sucking large amounts of balls at your job. As well as getting to Paris, getting to Paris healthy is just as important.

Is it bad luck, bad management, chronic fatigue induced or is it just an excuse for being s**t?

OK, so I was thinking... Have there been any performances at this Tour that made us stand up and go 'Whooah, that is very abnormally awesome?'. It seems to me that most of the main players actually had more negative surprises than weird positive turnarounds. Are we at a point where we can look to there being limited dodgy chemical input?

(The person who I think has had the most' out there' performance is de Gendt. Pulling on the front of the peleton like a beast and tons of breakaways.)

What made the TdF a real farce with the highly questionable management of the rules:

Sagan DQ

Bouhanni punch - no DQ

Degenkolb punch - no DQ

Froome lane switching / shoulder barge - no penalty

De Gendt - no red dossard overall ????

Bidon scenario with Bennett, Uran and Bardet

There was more

What a pity for the sport ????

I think they should give landa a non yellow helmet so he cant be spotted and let him distance Bardet and take the 3rd.

i am just a bit ticked about the whole French and De Gendt issue. So this would be so deserving to them.

More than likely Sky won't do that though. They are not frogs.

Best combative of tour - De Gendt

Best performing domestic - Kwiatkowski

Best performing team riders - Sunweb

Best understudy to become a GC - Landa

Best stage win - 19 EBH (might be bit biased here)

Yea sure you could have done better after schlepping through France on a bike mate.

Fortunately, he didnt have to go up that hill properly, as he wasn't racing TDF, but guess what Bardet was, and he was racing against a bunch of other guys who also just schlepped through France on their bicycles.

Google - Rasmussen Tour de France TT disaster

Michael "the chicken" Rasmussen and the TT of 2005. I was there on the day, half way around the course in St Etienne. It was a disaster of epic proportions! I felt sorry for the guy :-(

Where was Bernard Hinault this year?

Hinault had announced last year that he was retiring as Ambassador for ASO; the position apparently to be filled by Stephen Roche. Don't recall seeing much of Roche during the tour this year. Maybe a change to more of a back office role?

Amazing ride by Meintjes..same time as Yates and holding off a storming Conto!!Small improvements needed, more rounded performance bit more support and the right route and I believe podium is achievable!

Impey killed it yesterday!!By miles the best TT performance by a SA rider for many years!

Now just for Reinie to give the perfect lead out today and then I am happy!
