Me too. Friday morning to Monday afternoon. Get away from the JHB rat race!

Yeah.. we are leaving Friday afternoon after work and school and also heading back on Monday, perfect timing as it is school holidays.. we'll also be taking the mtbs with. Pick up race number etc early Saturday and head off to the trails on Saturday. .. at least that is the plan[emoji23]

If I still want to look at a bike on the Monday we will do some more mtb riding on Monday morning before we head home[emoji23]

Hubby and the kids will go play on the dirt while I ride on Sunday.

@Chainsaw, was good having you guys onboard, on Saturday - was great fun all round!

Thanks for the company on Saturday, was fun having so many people out on the road!

I'll be in yellow KPCC kit on a red and black Merida Scultura (same one as blondeonabike)

All you fast okes can cheer me on when I finish in last position..even easier to spot[emoji23] [emoji23]

I have been limited to the IDT lately.. but manged to get 2hr road ride on Monday (with a lot of comedy) and 3hr30min mtb yesterday.. my conclusion is.. as long as they don't replace the tar with sand I should survive... still thanking my training plan that I got those long rides in when I did..and the IDT intervals and all those damn sprint sessions while watching the cycling has really helped just to keep some sort of form while I couldn't get out for long rides.

Veebee with the mileage you have been doing on late are you going to be riding up from home? hehehehehe

I will be riding the Litespeed and in Batsalani kit (same kit we wore at the 2016 DC). We have about 4 teams entered so you will see a lot of the kit.

Who has done a recce of the route? Any tips / warnings?

Jay! I still fit in my Assos gear. Black and white Assos kit. Very black disc brake Dedacciai. Hairy legs.

Dont worry.  Chainsaw also looks like a taranchula.  I'm going to pin him down and shave those legs this week.  Resistance is futile

The website shows the race finishing at the Piggly Wiggly, 3Km up the road from the Mandela Capture Site (start), giving a race distance of 157Km.

Racetec are doing the timing.

A finish at piggly wiggly    The descent down st Ives dive is fast with a tight corner and then it is only 500m sprint to piggly wiggly.   That corner is begging for trouble.  Mandela site would be better even if it is a bit further....

Would any hubbers be keen to meet for a drink on sat evening?  Not a whole evening affair, maybe just an hour to meet everyone.

I may even have a beer or two. As long as you promise not to shave my legs....

I have to agree, sort of - not knowing the area well enough, and based on my limited time riding the R103 (twice). At least the road passing Piggly Wiggly is straight, but that's about it.

I'm trying to go through my Strava files from the only two occasions I've cycled the R103, trying to physically remember the St Ives dive. If it's the one I think it is, then the Piggly Wiggly is on the right in the middle of a very nice descent.

It (website) previously mentioned full road closure, now it shows rolling road closure. I hope the R103 will be closed to traffic - given that the final 30Km are (mostly) downhill. I like to make full use of the road width when there is road closure - allows for faster speeds through the turns.
