Gusts all over most of EuroLand this weekend, it seems. Even the Catalunya race was shortened yesterday to a mere 28 kms or something and rerouted away from the mountains. BTW.. What a ride from Roglič and tactical master class from Red Bull Handgrohe!

Another race of attrition and many of the top performers are legs up, getting reconnaissance rides in and getting ready for the Holy Week of the Spring Classics.

Gotta love professional sport - the lows are very low and the highs are extraordinarily high, and tons of preparation, planning, execution and luck in-between.

Even in WvA wanted the win, they played the wrong tactics with 3 v 1.  They should have been attacking from 10kms to go sending riders up the road.  It was too telegraphed that they were there for WvA and would have been better to put doubt in Powless mind, that a Visma win would be good enough.  At some point Powless would have had to respond to riders up the road.  Instead he has a free ride and lead out and only had to dig deep the last 200m, with nothing to loose.

Pog can do all the recon in the world, race day is another story. We are hyping up something that just won’t happen. His a sensational rider of his era but PB is a monster and I personally don’t think it suits his style. We forget, it’s not the strongest who wins. 🤓
