Thank you again for all of your messages. It is a real encouragement to us. I was reading some of the posts to Herma (Bryne's wife) and her sister earlier and it brought us to tears.

I shuffle awkwardly behind these remarks of thanks as if they may carry some insightful weight of felt appreciation but the truth is I have insufficient words to appropriately express what it means to us...

I had to identify his broken body today. It went better than I anticipated. I was anticipating a pivotal emotional moment but as I looked at his body I had the surreal experience like I was simply looking at a broken container - Bryne was gone from it.

Then I went to the site of the accident. His blood still stains the road. His broken oakleys were in the stormwater gulley. I felt heartsore seeing his blood still there. I notices a few memorial crosses from previous accidents against the side of the road not too far from where his accident was.

Tomorrow morning we finalise legal arrangements between the mortuary and the funeral home. Wednesday we will go to home affairs to do what must be done there. On Wednesday afternoon I drive to Hoedspruit and overnight there to fetch my daughter from school after she finishes her last exam at 10:30 on Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon we will be back home in JHB. Friday 11 am is the memorial service.

Thank you all, again

Positive vibes Anthony. Be safe out there.

Anthony, Herma and all your loved ones who have been deeply affected by Bryne's death, condolences to you. Praying that you will find comfort, strength and healing in the coming days and future

We as humans don't like to talk and think about death because of the hurt and finality of it. But no one can avoid death, we all have to go thru that door, some of us earlier than others......

I did not know Bryne but by what I have read on this thread, I would have enjoyed spending time in his presence, a man who loved his family and a man of integrity. His passing has been very close to many on this forum and it is important that we take a lesson from this. We don't know when it is our time, let's cherish our loved ones more, for we don't know what tomorrow will bring

I registered on this forum just to say thank you for the thoughts, prayers and condolences from this cycling community.

The Cyclist is my brother, Bryne Forgey. He was tragically killed when an oncoming car lost control after swerving and crossed over the road killing him instantly. He lived in Strubens Valley, so Hendrik Potgieter was one of the roads he frequented on his bike.

He died while doing something he really loved.

I will miss him terribly, we were very close.

He was 51 years of age

His wife and two teenage children are broken.

This is terrible. I am so so sorry for your loss and his wife and kids' loss.

My most sincere condolences.

I never new him, but enjoyed his input and posts here.

Very sad.

No words. So sad and seriously shaken by this. This could have been avoided through patience and simple human thought. But no. Drivers simply think their time is more important, that rushing is more vital than someone's life.

We lost one of the few seemingly good people. This really needs to stop.

Strongs to the family who's missing a son, a father, a brother, and a husband tonight...

Ride on in peace Bryne. You clearly deserve it.

My heartfelt thoughts are with you and your brother's loved ones.

Back in 1989, I too had to identify my brother's body after he passed away in a car accident whilst on Matric holiday in Margate. 6 December.

I still have his mud-stained ID document with the deceased stamp in the drawer of my desk.

I still feel gutted about this.

Thank you for your posts Anthony, it can't be easy. Good luck with all the official stuff you have to do this week, I know how difficult it is when you just feel like your world has been torn apart and you have to deal with the "admin". It is not easy but you have to be strong for the rest of the family.

We finalised arrangements with Martins who are the undertakers.  Ramon has been a great help.

once we finished filling in the required documents, Herma asked if she could give them a set of clothes to put on his body (even though he's being cremated, its about honour). Ramon said she could do that with pleasure.  Herma asked Brynes son Luc to choose some clothes which he did.

Ramon had to record all of the items in the forms.  when he asked for the list, Luc said jeans, shoes, socks, belt and casual cycling shirt.  I took a picture to post here.  Luc tells me that it has some meaning among some of the cycling community.

Here is what he will be wearing....
