Yesterday morning on my (motorcycle) commute EVERY SINGLE car I stopped next to at a traffic light the driver was more interested in his phone than the road.

Be careful out there folks.

while on the topic of motor bikes.... Jeez they can ride like knobs as well.

Some people say a BMW will never give you a gap, some people say a Merc, some people say a 4x4, but guaranteed a motorbike will never give you a gap.

Born again bikers on fully kitted out GSs: they can't stop because the bike weighs more than a car and they don't have the balancing skills.

Anyone who's been riding a bike for most of their life can stop and balance pretty easily. But remember it's not quite as easy to halt as it is in a car.

Not just at traffic lights, sadly!

I regularly see people, especially younger drivers, looking down at the phone held somewhere for seconds WHILE DRIVING... Seriously?!

"Oh no, driving while talking on the phone is illegal, let's do something even more dangerous" - you can LOL at your BFF when you've stopped, kiddie!

with all the carnage going on is this really the best comment you can make?

FFS cyclists are being KILLED and you make snotty little comments.

I suggest you go back to garage, dust off your clubs and go back to golfing.

And it's Friday.

Must say though that in areas in Cape Town many cyclists (no not most) are not towing the line.

I'm on a "be courteous" trip at the moment and thanking - greeting - acknowledging - motorists.

Getting amazing reactions.

Does not always work though (shh - both ways)

What I AM finding is that out of towners are most of the time not aware of the 1m space bylaw.

Most of my close calls are from them.

Have found this riding season more hairy than last season.

Yep cell phone drivers really grate my tits...because they don't see you then they get a fright when they do see you THEN swear you for being in the way...

This gets me, drove on the R21 yesterday morning at around 8h30 and saw a lady texting in that traffic at about 110 km/h. I can never understand how people can be that stupid. If that message is really that urgent that it has to be send at that moment, then why not pull off and text and send? Why risk your life and those of others for a text message?

sheez, you are sensitive today. I know about BDF, and am not trying to make light of his situation, AT ALL...OKAY!!!

As for this thread, I merely made a comment in jest. Perhaps I was wrong, and for that I apologize, but as for your asinine comment? Ja, whatever.

(And yes, I can comment on this topic, as I have also had a trip to the emergency room, courtesy of the volvo driver who left me stranded after noticing how badly I was hurt.)

Now I think we can get the popcorn

I don't understand . How should a motorbike give you a gap ? You will not fit into the bike lane !

Its not just the visitors. Taxi's appear to delight in passing bikes as close as possible. On my weekend jaunt, I noticed it and my wife who did the same route earlier in the morning said she noticed the same.

try putting on your indicator when you need to change lanes in peak hour traffic. These morons come zooming between the cars at a snot-speed and norrefok will they allow you to change lanes no matter how long your indicator has been on.

Maybe said Volvo driver was off to buy some popcorn?

One of the biggest weaknesses of the hub is that comments about popcorn are allowed. It should result in the allocation of an instant warning point for 1st offence followed by a banning for 2nd offence.
