I just learned that my niece's two little girls (aged 9 & 7) was raped by three lowlifes while they were in foster care, so yes, Saudi style justice will work just fine for me at this stage..... :cursing:

Sjoe.. I am so incredibly sorry to read this..

Hear, hear... +1000

As someone who works with kids, mostly more privileged ones, it is amazing how even kids who come from those backgrounds absolutely blossom with a bit of confidence and the finding of a latent talent. To someone with much less it must mean so much more.

(But Gen also needs a slap on the wrist for disowning Orkney so vehemently... This pooksie-wooksie-se-worpsie-wapsie is not impressed!)

Total rubbish .

He had choices , a job , a sporting chance , but he chose to be a criminal .

He is not the only person to come from that background .

A large percentage chose a better path . All credit to them .

Typical of modern society , blaming everyone else .

I think your Hubname might indicate a particular bias in matters racial.

ps - how do you cycle in the robes and does the helmet go over your hood?

Only if his source speaks about a 3rd party...  If the source and the perp is the same person, then surely the protection-bit doesn't apply?

I think it was mentioned before but it's worth saying again:

A journalist has to be able to protect his/her sources;

For context. Bit of an unfortunate TLA, but there you go... Taken from the website www.kkkcycle.co.za

So, Karoo-Kus-Karoo became Kus-Karoo-Kus which eventually led to the tour and the operation being called KKK (cycle).

This is no challenge it is completely a lost cause. SA is still going backwards at a fast pace with no end in sight.

No it is not lost

I was born here, I have nowhere to go. Neither do I want to. We've got to make this work.

A friend co-authored a book recently that talks about solutions for the ills in society. Have a look at it here: https://www.gibs.co.za/news-events/news/Pages/NEW-BOOK-The-Disruptors-Social-Entrepreneurs-Reinventing-Business-and-Society.aspx

The people that she interviewed and writes about - that's the thinking that we need here. More people like Gen who sees potential and take that one kid to hockey on Fridays. People like Max du Preez who in some small way can maybe get people to think a bit. More people that can work on the solutions rather than just see the problems.

Googled a bit, closest to this I could find

WC 2010 e-tv interviewed 2 gangsters who revealed their plans to rob WC visitors, police asked for the identity of of the gangsters, e-tv refused - long story, lots of debates & threats, in the end police gave up and e-tv protected the source of their story.

Another is the public murder of the Staggie gangsters, where journos had footage identifying the perpetrators which they refused to give to the police, that one turned in the constitutional court.

Don't think you will find consensus on when it's ok to reveal a source and when it's not, given how confidentiality of sources is crucial for journos to do their job  I suspect journos will err on the side of not revealing sources when faced with these "moral dilemmas".

Be an interesting call to the local police station: "hi, there is this guy who is a drug addict and has lied to me about what he has done in the past. Anyway, he says that he is planning to rob someone tonight in one of two or three areas. Not sure, but he said so. Can you do something please?"

Not sure what the constable on the other end of the line would do.

And then there is a thing called evidence. If he went to the cops and handed the oke over, he'd be out in an hour. Sad, but true.

The problem is that to really make an overall difference, Gen need to take 50 kids to hockey not just 1. And with population growth and with our government, those 50 kids that need the free support will be 55 next year, and then 70 the year after that. The sad reality is that even if all of us that can help like Gen, does help, its still not enough. And this free support risks entrenching the entitlement mentality. It is a socialist solution and that has never worked well.

Exactly the type of easy solution to problems taught to him by his dad. Problem is he is applying it in real life and not just threatening it on internet forums.

Bit difficult taking a weapon on a local flight to sort out **** in Cape Town.

He is not applying it as a solution, it's his copout on life and actually getting meaningful employment.

Like I said, trash like this needs to be taken out. One at a time. Found, and exterminated, for the betterment of many.
