I did that, today, going past the golf club, on the R44 :)

Also make 110% sure that the motorist who gave you the gap gets a good thumbs up to say thanks.

Just before 11:00 ?

but the gent I saw was more of a commuter though ...

Hey, I can look like a cool commuter too, don't discriminate ;)

Nah, I went past there around 17:30. Always fun doing that R44 stretch in evening traffic.

THAT must be fun ... idling along in the bike lane while the cars are mostly crawling along, when not stationary.

Commuting ROCKS !

If anyone is keen on riding thru from the North the Cyclopaths cycling club will be meeting at Toyota N1 City at 6h30am to leave by 6h45 latest.

We will be heading down Giel Basson then left onto Bosmansdam rd all the way down to Koeberg rd then onto the cycle path all the way into town.

n the Koos Roux case (the cyclist killed on Bottelary Rd in May 2013), we have finally reached the end of the road. Geoffrey Merrick was found guilty on four charges, culpable homicide being the main one. Sentencing takes place on 22 August and we are hoping for a harsh sentence. The PPA Office will be at the Kuilsrivier court for the sentencing and you are welcome to join us as we stage a silent protest.

For all of those who can attend!!

Anybody else also received a "Dear Johnny" letter from the CEO of the PPA, bidding you fond farewell for not yet renewing your membership?

Dear xxxxx

I am really sorry to have to say 'goodbye' to you. This will be my last monthly CEO letter to you, as you will soon be taken off our database and will no longer receive the regular newsletters from PPA until you renew your membership for the new membership year which started on 1 July. We'll send out one more invoice later this week. At roughly R30 per month for a main member or R15 per month for an additional family member or R8 per month for a junior (u/18) member, we do hope you find value in what we do for cycling, cycling events, and cyclists in general, and will consider renewing your membership soonest.

Yes, got slightly excited at the first few lines, then had a good chuckle. As if the newsletter is why we renew our memberships....

I renewed mine because it does look to me that thete is an attempt being made to further our interests. I can see the flaws and have written to them twice and received answers on both occasions.

So I didn't get a dear Johnny.

You are right, I will renew mine too. This was just the first reminder to do so.

They are starting to do things better, and I even think the noise we made had something to do with it. The fact that they are starting to come to JHB also makes my heart a little happier. (A good friend of mine was knocked down two days ago right after the morning ride in Craighall, broken collarbone, fractured skull. He has two kids... being operated on today and tomorrow, wanted to see how that goes before posting here)

I'll renew on the condition that that the remove me from his mailing list.

Saw your comment on Twitter - thought for a moment PPA blocked you as well  :whistling:

Also already renewed, but then again did that just before signing up for the One Tonner later this year.

Was in JHB this week, and saw PPA ride wider from the rider at the one petrol station message board in Centurion.

See in the "other" letter that they sent out that they have about 2000 members here in Gauteng.. or did I read it wrong
