Should I upgrade to tubeless

Has anybody ever gone from tubeless to tubes?

 

If so, why?

 

If not, why not?

 

These are all rhetorical questions, of course!

Thorns aren't the only way to puncture! I've had sharp small sticks puncture my tires...

Once you master the tubeless setup, small puncture holes take care of themselves and you probably won't even notice. With a tube, you'll need to stop and repair (unless you running sealant in a tube).

Tubeless = less weight and performance increase (grip) with lower pressures.

 

But you right, if these "gains" don't interest you, go tubes with sealant...no reason for tubeless!

In case no one has said this already: yes.

 

Even my roadbike runs tubeless. Main issue with road tubeless is the pressure (I run 6 - 6.5bar), you'd better hope you have enough sealant because at road pressures that stuff flies out really fast and gets everywhere.

Where are you guys riding and getting all these thorns?

I ride tokai, jonkers, eden, gspot, paarl, helderberg, contermans, hoogekraal and have not yet encountered any thorns in my wheels so far.

Rode there yesterday and plenty thorns!!!

Hi all

 

I am one of those guys these days, that cycles on the tar mostly, (99,5%) of the time with my MTB with knobblies. 

 

My question is, is it worth going tubeless in this circumstances? Or is it better to just stick to tubes?

Do you often get punctures?

If yes = answer is to go TBL

If no = answer is to go TBL

 

The thorn season is coming!

TBL = Less Stress

 

Fixing a puncture is not a big deal, but if you have the facility to mostly avoid fixing punctures, then do it!

 

If it is a monetary decision, tubes rock.

My answer YES.

 

I was sceptical. Ran tubeless front and tube in the back. Did a long ride and had 2 punctures, one front one back. Front took seconds to sort, but the back took several minutes to fix.

 

Next day m****d my tudes away. Never looked back, except if I want to cross the road.
