X-Ray:

ER Doctor at Sandton Mediclinic wanted to send me home like this and said that Dr McDonald my orthpod, would see me in 2 weeks, I told him to get ******. (I will still write about Dr McDonald not looking at my X-rays properly even after I asked him too, as I was suffering from bad pain. Turns out that right at the top of the X-ray report they mentioned 3 fractured ribs.... I was only told this by my physio 10 days after operation.... orthpod kept telling me there is nothing else wrong )

Does a broken heart count? Had a few of those...

I agree, it sucks when you have to sell a bike in order to buy a new one!

Heart Broken so many times  :(

My brother Brussell has been a bit scarce lately (probably something to do with epic) but he is an epic bone breaker (probably missed a few)

Broken arm (cycling)

Broken thumb (cricket)

Broken other wrist (cycling I think)

another broken wrist (don't recall but probably cycling)

Broken ankle (skateboarding - messy one took 3 ops to try to fix)

broken cheek bone (same accident as above)

Broken other ankle (hockey, days after getting off crutches for the previous one)

Broken femur (yip, cycling)

Broken elbow (cycling again - and he makes fun of me for crashing!!)

and a few broken ribs in the mix

Thankfully I'm far behind with only 3 broken bones and a dislocation lol!

Was back on the IDT 4 days later. Got back on the bike outside yesterday, 3 weeks to the day after Op.

I had a similar experience back in '96, but in the platteland, not Sandton....

I cracked L4 and L5 during a bad fall playing hockey. The pain was intense. Went to hospital, had x-rays taken and was told by the attending dr and radiologist that there is nothing wrong.

I played in pain - swallowing 2 myprodols and having a voltaren injection with every game - for a year. My back became so spastic that I woke one morning and I couldn't move without vomitting from pain. Rushed back to hospital for muscle relaxants. Got an appointment at a sport specialist (she was the olympic team dr at the time) in Pretoria the following week where she looked at the x-rays and said I was not supposed to run, turn or whatever because my two vertebrae is cracked.....

It took me months of proper rehab to become mobile again.

Back then there was no such thing as complaining to the HPCSA.

All the best with the ongoing rehab

Think the real solution is to always get a second opinion.
