He is one of Martin Dreyer's Change a Life riders who mainly compete here in KZN. He is strong but needs to learn some race craft. He won the development category at Munga last year finishing 6th overall after destroying a wheel and having to run something like 12kms the next check point.

So that's how he qualified to represent SA at world champs?

True , but ago doesn't mean she can complain about anything that doesn't suit her. I'm generalising now because I don't even know exactly what happend but lets just leave it at that.

Langvad won end of story nothing can change that now.

So age means nothing and you admit to generalising because you don't even know what happened but complaining about her complaining thus decided to leave it at that, come again?

Have always been a huge fan of Ariane, but she has (sadly) lost it. I fear her time has past

She's 36, which is no spring chicken, but still way younger than some of her competitors. I really believe that she's a classy rider with still a lot in her, but her head just hasn't been in it since the divorce. She has a 4th place finish at worlds, I really believe she can get back to that level, if she gets her head right again.

When I started cycling and watching cycling, she was my hero. She destroyed the ladies field and was even competitive on an international level, winning the Swiss version of the Epic, whatever it's called and being a multipe Swiss marathon champ. But now, even the locals are killing her, no disrespect to the local ladies, as they have definitely made huge improvements. So the question is, how is she going to get back on top? Was expecting at least a top ten from her here

bit disappointing that as the 'mtb marathon' capital of the world we don't really feature, Can't even beat the namibians. But I suppose it's like the French waiting for a TdF winner (or Tim henman trying to win Wimbledon)

Very disappointing. But it's because our guys don't really spend as much time overseas. Look at MTN Qhubeka/ Dimension Data, their guys have all put in tjr time abroad and they are getting some solid results. One cannot win a few local races and think you have made it. Look at some of these international races with something like 5000m of climbing, compared to a local race with what, 3000m at most? I don't know what these internationals are doing, but they are wiping the floor with us.

No, he qualified on his performance at SA Marathon Champs a few weeks ago.

Much rather a proud young South African given the chance of a lifetime over people who won't necessarily appreciate it. Love these sort of stories, regardless of his poor result...

On the men's results, Phillip is probably our best local rider, but he's not really a great marathon rider. And he does better at the Epic because the trails are a fair bit more technical. And yes, most of these guys on this start line are at the Epic. The worlds best however are more focused on XC racing, marathon racing is small fry in the grand scheme of things. It's just here in SA where it's the bee's knees.

Those are some impressive results from our ladies - hopefully they can continue to step it up and really challenge the podium.

Sorry Sorry Sorry obviously I'm making a bold claim saying she complains.

So what does her age entitle her to exactly ? Since age should mean something

YES!

So money has been spent sending this dude to world champs. Imagine the indirect return this gets for the Dusi valley community, a boy from down the road makes it all the way to world champs? The sky is the limit.

Ok, I'm asking cause I don't know the oke, never heard of him. If he performed well at SA champs and fully deserve his spot then I have no problem. At the Rio olympics I didn't know who Alan Hatherly (spelling?) was so I also asked about him, and I was duly educated on his results that led to him being picked for Rio.
