So the better half and I entered as tandem. Get 2 phone calls from CTCT this week to confirm that we are a tandem entry - we say YES.

No, only the racing tandems start as a group. All other tandems start with the seeded group of the weakest rider.

If im not mistaken, I think tandem riders still get individual seedings and have to start in the group of the rider with the lower seeding.

 

Could be wrong though.

Flash and his wife are definitely good enough to make racing tandems/#. Look at those individual seedings, they are flipping good. We always finish very close to each other. I have made racing tandems for the last few years and have always finished in the top half of the group.

I am with you 100%. Also in 1E and also my first Argus. Very keen to go under 3h but will be sure to enjoy every moment.

So I got a sub..... Going to be the 1st one in about 7 years. PPA seeing is M so damn it is going to be slow and steady for me. No training for looong so I thing a 3:30 to  3:45 is on the cards.

My horrible Stellenbosch Cycle Tour(2 punctures) and the conditions(I had no brakes on the day and was riding my 50mm deep dish, my mistake) seems to have hurt my seeding badly.. I'm lower down than I was last year..

 

If I do a good time at 99er this weekend I reckon I'll E-mail them and ask to be reseeded, or riding from 3C is going to hurt trying to find a fast group to ride as close to 3hrs as possible...

AFAIK/understand the racing tandems is capped at 30 tandems. So they take the top 30 seedings. I am not sure if they take a combined seeding or the lower(or is that higher) seeding. In my personal opinion its unfair that they then put the rest of the tandems in normal groups. There should be 3 or 4 social tandem groups. A tandem doesn't ride the same as a single. Crashes waiting to happen, especially for the middle to back more inexperienced riders.
