Ive posted this before but it is relevant to this thread.

So you have a right to cycle in the middle of the lane

Or cycle in the road when there is a cycle lane.

Your name must be William

"Here lies the body of William Jay,
Who died maintaining his right of way.
He was right, dead right, as he sped along,
But he's just as dead as if he were wrong."

If I pass a car on the right in a 50kph zone doing 60kph while attempting a KOM run do I have to leave a 1.5m gap?

Why do everyone keep hamming on about 1.5m ? The law that was passed is 1m NOT 1.5M (That is only a dream)

Its from the old PPA campaign - cyclists stay alive at 1.5

Try that in Aus, and you're likely to get deported... hooning around like that...

I was only asking for my Aussie friend... :whistling:

(I actually had to pull a stunt like that a few days ago when some fool pulled over unthinkingly. Seems there are much, much fewer idiots over here based on the last month but they still exist!)

We have this gem of a road in Pretoors called Nellmapius. It gets hairy between John V and Old Jhb. So much so that I have been hit by a mirror from a vehicle while riding my mountain bike on the gravel.

Needless to say I stay clear of this section on Nellmapius nowadays. I feel sorry for roadies coming through there. Eish.

this road is about 2m wider than Bainskloof pass !!  I kid you NOT.

Mountain side on the one side and shear drop on the other .... then you find roadies on this road .....

Why?

Why the heck will there allways be a turd in the drinking water, some dude that wants to be "hoofseun", klikkiebek ..., keeper of the moral high ground?

The helmet issue, riding formation, the greeting issue ..., and so it goes ...

because common sense is in short supply and entitlement reigns.

So lately i've noticed some real nobs riding around.

which has finally led me to start the thread of shame - a thread where you post pictures of cyclists giving other cyclists a bad name.

Last week was a guy riding without a helmet down main road, the week before that was 4 riders abreast on Ceder.

TAKE A PIC OF THE PERPS. AND POST IT HERE.

hopefully a little peer pressure will help sort this sort of behaviour out

Check this special out.

Can you imagine how irritated cars coming past must have been?

this oke did not care one little bit

he rode almost the entire way up the Steyn City Hill like this.

So he climbed Cedar road with only one hand steering. Damn, some seriaaas skills this oke has.

There is ample space on Cedar since they broaden it. Look closely, the vehicle is still in his lane when passing the cyclist that seems to be within the yellow lane shoulder
