I've been enjoying the FloBikes show

Seems twitter is having a meltdown over this subject lot of loudmouths with 'opinions'  as they said opinions are like anuses, everyone has one.

Sour grapes cos an Englishmen is rapidly reeling in his palmares while having to actually take heed of some kind of anti-doping protocols... ag shem, poor Frenchies - let them have their Festinas and watch on  :P

Some guy called Bernard Hinault is doing a whole lot of whining:

Frenchman says Froome 'is not a legend' and must not start the Tour de France

80km solo break away. I want to believe it's clean, but it's difficult.

He still took about 50 seconds out of the Dumoulin group on that first big downhill and probably another chunk on the next one. (The terrain didn't really suit a group with the steep climbs and downhills either) That to me indicates his willingness to win, to risk a potential second place in order to win, his mindset and his heart.  Being clean or being doped up to the limit won't make a difference in taking risks on that downhill.  That's just my opinion though, each to their own I guess.  We were entertained on that stage.  As for his case, it will run it's cause and we are all hoping it gets solved earlier than later.  Whatever the outcome I won't forget that Giro stage's entertainment though.

I did see a tweet with better stats on his solo attack with a few segments compared between a few of the top guys but can't find it now. This is the only one I can find. Will keep looking.

EDIT:

Froome opens up his gap

Before reaching Sestrière, the third climb of the day, Froome had to descend the Colle delle Finestre and take on a short hike through the valley. And that's where his lead really started to yawn out and where it became clear the pink jersey could come into play. The Sky rider completed the descent - made treacherous by wet patches, narrow roads, and tight corners - nearly a minute quicker than the five chasers.

He took a lead of 1:40 onto the flatter roads, where it became abundantly clear Carapaz and Lopez would not be offering up a single turn. It was left to Dumoulin and Reichenbach, and to a slightly lesser extent Pinot, to drag Froome back, but the lone leader only took the gap the other way. In the third group, Pozzovivo, Bennett, and O'Connor worked while Oomen, Bilbao, and Poels, all with teammates up the road, sat in. That group slowly started to lose ground to the Dumoulin group.

The climb was preceded by an intermediate sprint, and Froome gladly took three bonus seconds, while Dumoulin took two and Pinot one. Froome hit the climb with a lead of 1:52, and while the steadier gradients should have favoured a group, with the slipstream much more of a benefit than on the Finestre, he continued to put time into the chasers.

By the top, he was 2:45 ahead and almost in the virtual maglia rosa. The Pozzovivo group was now two minutes down on the Dumoulin group.

I agree with Eldron, we were all on the edge of our seats glued to the tv screen. That's what matters.

Also remember, Dumoulin made a few crucial errors. He waited for Pinot's teammate to help with chase. Lost time by doing that, and was not strong enough to be of any benefit.

Dumoulin should have shouldered the responsibility and chased on his own.

If the logic is that Froome was doped to put 3 minutes into group2, then what was group 2 on to put an additional 5 minutes into a larger group, with Pozzovivo, who were working together ???

I reckon Gary's comment is the saddest side effect of doping - extra ordinary performances are now automatically treated with suspicion.

Not helped by Armstrong's "I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles" comment...

Once you run the numbers Froome's solo effort was not that extraordinary but people will still knee jerk to dope.

I think I've turned the corner on caring - hell I'm even starting to think of Ricco's dope fulled mountain shredding as exciting! Ok not so much....

I didn't see anything about this on the UCI website. You'd think it would be on the front page.

I would love to see the data on Froome's effort, but if the tv is to be believed it looked like he turned the dial to 350w (which does not sound like a lot considering what pros can do) and left it there - up, down, flat, everywhere. Riding with a power meter and knowing what you can do and then sticking to it - that's how it looked to me. I don't know how that is considered super human.

Dumoulin rides in a very similar way - the problem is his chin weighs another 2.5kg and thus he needs to produce more power to just match Froome's effort.

Yeah - Velon have not exactly covered themselves in glory with their glitchy telemetry. I'm surprised there hasn't been some kind of conspiracy theory around Froome's perfect 350w 2 hour on screen value!

I really don't think providing data will help - the believers will believe and the detractors will detract.

Edit: TommyD's 2.5kg chin

UCI never publish anything ..only comment when things are leaked or once decisions are final..

The story was in Gazetta..journo who ran the story was Ciro... he more often than not has pretty good sources... if it's BS Team Sky and Froome will deny it really fast...UCI will remain silent...as always[emoji6]
