Robot Bike Co. - have only read about them but they now seem to be out of business.

Truly bespoke frames and a novel manufacturing process using aerospace and F1 tech - carbon tubes, titanium lugs and 3D-printing.

My 2010 Ventana El Rey.  Absolutely love this bike.  After two Epics and a host of other events I got Annette from Cycledelic to do the respray which came out much nicer than the original plain white.  Did my first Epic on the 'El Saltamontes', which is basically the 26'er precursor to the 29'er El Rey.  The abuse I took from riders at the 2010 Epic  - 29'er Dual!!!  Now everyone rides them.......

Ventana are more widely known for their offroad tandems - the 'El Conquistador de Montanas' which I also had the privilege of owning for a while.

Who remembers Wheeler Bikes? ... Were a player in SA in the 90s.

We even had our own local legend racing the world cups for Wheeler then, Greg Miller.
He's one of the lead motorbike sweeps at Cape Epic and runs a baiker training centre.

They are still making bikes. I remember Jurgen Beneke came out to SA and spanked everyone on his Wheeler. Think he even won the Argus as well and was then disqualified for running slicks on an MTB

Yeah they do e-bikes and all.

Remember that, he came and did a group ride with Lyndhurst Cycles and signed some cards. Still have one somewhere.

Recall him coming 11th on his MTB?

Back when the full sus wheeler had these weird elastomer donuts on the rear.

Can still follow him here: https://twitter.com/benekejurgen?lang=en

Loves his van life builds and had a copyright fight a local SA light brand.

It's more a case of them just adding the Athertons branding to their design.

and their many collective years experience in developing kick ass bikes for other leading bike brands ... how does one quantify this.

You mean the Atherton's design input at Trek/GT or Robot bike's? I don't know anything about the latter other than that the suspension design and carbon/Ti lugs on the robot bike was there before the Atherton's involvement. I'm sure they bring more than just money to the table.
