Chain Lubricants

I know there are several topics that have been discussed in the past about chain lubricants, but as with everything I was hoping there would be new products / advancements with current products for chains. I used SQUIRT over the weekend at the Northern Farms race, and having a fair amount of dew and some mud, my chain was making some really funky noises not to far into the race. I have also used the Muck-Off Ceramic lubricant in the past (but is damn expensive and not easily found).
What are the new, long last lubricants being used today?

I personally only use squirt and have done so for about 8-10 years now but i agree, it's not great in wet / muddy conditions. Best to keep a small 'Squirt' with you on your ride and re apply.

personally i use Smoove...but i feel it's more about when you apply it. I always prep my bike the night before...never put lube on in the morning at the race/ride as then it picks up dirt

Some good advice there to do proper prep before.

Before I'll always apply Rock N Roll Gold. Taking a bit of time to properly apply and allowing the lube to penetrate to where it is suppose to be.

I also do ride with a small Squirt or small Qlube if it is necessary to apply during a ride.

I use ordinary 2 stroke oil...purchased anywhere and cheaper per 100ml than all these specific lubes...does it make your chain black? - yes, does your chain make funky noises cuz its not lubricated properly? - no.

I find I do not need to stop mid race and reapply lube as well.

IMHO all these "wax based" lubes do not work as well, my motto is (and I pinched this from someone) oil is for machines and wax is for candles...

Second Rock N Roll Gold...and prep work (lube, tires, drive train etc.) at least the night before an event or casual ride.

Squirt is useless. Clogs up and your chain starts squeaking after 60km into a race. I use normal automatic gearbox oil. Works perfectly and is easy to clean

Finish line - the green one when it's wet and muddy. NEVER USE WHEN NOT WHET AND MUCKY YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR CHAIN.

Else I use white lightning clean ride for dry conditions.

Use it all the time. It doesn't do any damage to your chain if the conditions are dry. Just apply a little and wipe off excess with a cloth.

Clean your drivetrain with parrafine regularly. Any lubricant will build up and trap dirt. It needs to be purged to get it all clean again and start the process over.

Chain and cassette wear comes from never cleaning them, and just keep applying lube ride after ride after ride.

So far it seems like Rock n Rolla Gold / White Lightning / gearbox oil .... and then Squirt.
I must say I used some oil called Phil's Oil back in the day. It was thicker than 2 stroke oil, so had a tendency to pick up dust but worked like magic in wetter conditions - just cant find it anymore

I would go with just cleaning when needed, and lubing in between every other ride or two (this is for road). in between cleanings, I just use a rag to get off the worst gunk

but as this this thread shows, as 10 people how to clean and lube drivetrain, and expect 11 answers. whatever works. one thing that's not negotiable though is 'CHECK YOUR CHAIN, CASSETTE, CHAINRING WEAR'. if you're sponsored or have unlimited loot, replace as needed, but if you're not, clean and lube as needed.
