Ja... especially the way you have to be herded past every single stand before you can escape.

Although this year I might just buy myself a little something.

Meh, it's worth it for me. Coming from a small town you struggle to get certain things and this usually affords me the opportunity to purchase them without having to go through a lot of effort. Your experience is based on your attitude, if you see it as a waste of time and a trap then that is how you will experience it.

I've come within 5 minutes of 3 hours, and was not disappointed at all. That is because I am not pushing for a sub 3. Easy way to avoid disappointment. Same can be said for a sub 4 K2C.

If it happens, it happens - if not, meh, everything is a fun ride if you are brave enough.

I know this is a bit of cliché, but how did my 5:45 One Tonner bag me 1B?

I bagged a sub 3 in 2015 without even trying, while riding my hard tail mtb on it's knobbly tyres. It can be done...

I did a sub three in 2015 too, but I was on a BMX.

I got seeded into 2H (07h08) this year.  Better than I was expecting since my last seeing race was in 2017.  From back there sub 3 dreams are out the window, but I'll be happy with around 3:15 as long as the weather plays along...

I started 2B last year, managed a 3h06 but there were a bunch of guys that did sub 3, so not impossible that far back.

Have moved forward into 1F.

Will see what happens at Smitswinkel, whether or not we (1F) improve on that this year.

Well if I can achieve that then I will be happy...everything must just click on the day!

Would love to get the communities insight on my allocated seeding for the CTCT. This is my first ever road race, I’ve done many MTB some stage some day only. I’m a keen cyclist over a many a years and over the last 4-5 months been commuting 30kms a day 4days a week on a fixie.

I’ve been seeded at 5K, generally speaking what is the skill setbof this bunch? Do i need to try and squeeze in the last seeding?

Feedback appreciated.

if you have decent MTB results you could probably motivate a better seeding, especially if they are recent. There are some humans with common sense at CTCT, and it's worth a shot.

at 5K, there probably won't be much of a bunch per se. you might find a handful of riders who could work together, but you will have a lot of traffic infront so it is very hard to build up consistent rhythm. You might even be far back enough that there are some really good riders doing their "second lap" for charity. you could sit on their wheel for a sub4 or help out for a 3:30 even.

don't under estimate the experience of bunch riding. if you can ride a fixie 120kms a week, then your bike handling should be fine, but there is a lot of anticipation and etiquette required in being a decent bunch rider (ie. safe and fast)

either way, Argus is rad. Enjoy it. I'm doing my 21st and still love the event for the unique animal it is.

just went to check the SEEDING races on the CTCT page.

they should probably take the

Relax man, sheesh, he was making an observation on the general trend that repeats itself every year. See my comment below. Same thing. Next we will hear the bitching about having to trek to the expo and how its a waste of time bla bla bla. No need to get your mammaries in a twist.

Skubarra clarified for me but thanks for further emphasising the point - In my defence line 1 was an observation, line 2 not so much.

Perhaps best not to get your knickers in a knot when something is not directed at you

Not sure if this is directed at me or yourself, but agreed
