Did a route reccie on the weekend, spotted my line through ocean view, all the vaalies have no chance in that mine field!

So is it the Gatorskins or the Conti GP4000's then?

I am predicting this event is going to be called off.

 

So far Windguru and Ventusky are speaking from one mouthpiece, and I just don't see this event even starting.

It shouldn't be the full cost again (not even close), but there does need to be an extra cost associated with riding twice. As a trivial example, people doing an extra lap will need more refreshments.

 

But we don't take refreshments on the first lap...

Whilst refreshment quantity is worked out over the total number of entrants.

Why?

 

The previously cancelled 2017 tour was because of "safety" of the riders due to the unrest on parts of the route and some fire/smoke issues in HB.

The wind is at its worse at the previous start venue which is now been (some what) resolved with the new start venue.

 

I cannot see the event being called off. May just be me.

 

I also don't want to see this happen, but the last few years has proven this to be a possible outcome more likely than not to occur.

 

2017 was canned because of the turbulent wind more than the supposed protest action if memory serves.

 

And if protest action is the culprit, this being an election year...(and as I type this, the N2 at Grabouw is closed from both sides due to protest action and stoning of passing vehicles)

There is too much fretting over something no human can control. I do however feel a wind coming on from behind[emoji100] and that I can control[emoji16]. Just ride or dont ride...its that simple. Enjoy the day folks but I suspect the Windi conversation will still continue.....

Its like going to movies and finish watching the movie then expecting to go back in on next show for free.... or even half price ..

 

Actually I've been in this situation. Went to the movies and then got a second viewing for free because they wanted me to provide feedback on seats and service.

 

Sort of the same as being INVITED to ride the same race a second time on the same day.

We are being invited not demanding or requesting.

If they cancel this one as well, then they're going to really struggle to sell entries next year.  As it stands, it's not the sell out event it's always been in the past.  Adding another nail by cancelling it isn't going to help that. 

 

If only it was one week earlier.  The weather yesterday was stunning.

SK gave it to you for free as they wanted feedback as per your statement. What would the CTCT gain from giving you a free 2nd lap? 

 

Arguably they probably wouldn't lose anything except your money by doing it, doesn't mean they need to do it though. Enough people pay for it for it to be financially viable for them.

2017 was cancelled because of a combination of wind, protest and fires, emergency services were better utilized elsewhere instead of baby sitting 30 000 MAMILS

Nothing wrong with surface of the road, its just that the road goes from 3 lanes to 1 at a random point before the mall, so have to be in the right place at the right time.
