Just got back from Cyclelab and what a pleasure. Got greeted at the door, picked up their Big Sale pamphlet and looked around, their Silverback Spectra with XT derailer 2x10 with tubless ready rims for under R9000 is a real bargain. If i was I newbie in the market for entry bike I would give it a serious look.

Keep it up CL  , oh and thanks for the mystery discount  :D Haters going to hate

I hope that they have something similar at the end of October. I am getting some long service money and will be in the market for a decent entry level MTB. This will mostly be used to commute to work and back. My Cannondale have served me faithfully and faultlessly for about 8 years, but it's time for something new.

Popped in at CWC this afternoon ....

Service was better than normal.  I bought a bag of goodies .....

I had to pop over to another bike shop, as CWC did not have the ESI grips I was looking for .. at least they did not have it in Yellow ... maybe just as well ....

This is the standard price at the other bike shop -

The CWC price - https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/esi-grips-fit-xc

O-well, buyer be ware .... with so many shops around here we really need to do our homework .....

Tip for CWC - as you now also distribute Scott you may want to look at this (I actually asked for something like this, and the assistant assured me you dont have anything like this...) :

You are comparing two diffrent products. You linked to ESI Fit XC grips but posted ESI Chunky grips from the other shop.

ESI Chunky is available from CWC for R270.

If I may ask, will we be able to use CL vouchers at the CWC/CL store in future and if so, from when?

Hi Ferro.

Yes you will be able to use CL vouchers in the store BUT not online for the time being.

Well the vitriol and CL hate evident on the hub does not seemingly make itself manifest in Fourways in real life, judging by todays long queues at the tills, which I guess is the ultimate indicator.

I walked in was greeted at the door, by a most friendly Bongani, who treated me like a king, helped me select the most awesome pair of MTB shoes, fitted the cleats for me while I eyed some e bike porn.

On the way out, I bumped into Wesley, who usually helps me, greets me warmly, and goes outta his way to get me what I want. He is a young man who knows bikes, and really understands customer service- he recently gave me a great deal on an Eagle upgrade kit.

Anyway, I love CL, i love CWC, I love Solomons, I love Northcliff Cycles, and Ridgeway Cycles. Jeepers, I am an LBS whore.

Oom Chris, anyone who has worked as hard and as smart as you have, consistently over many years deserves the rewards of the fruit of your labour, expertise and entrepreneurship. I have only experienced good things at CWC both on the site, and the annual Argus expo stand, where I buy tires and feed my bike light fetish every year. I hope to buy many more GP 4000’s from you at killer prices. Long may you run.

So I decided to take chance with CL Boksburg, seeing if this cwc/cl merger sale is what it claims to be- summed up, waste of fuel and time visiting the shop. Even after the R100 discount voucher they were still R10 over other shops for the same items.
If changes will only come in time, I suspect that by the time they do come they won't matter anymore.
