The "Dirty" bottle

We all do it.

we have that one bottle that stays on the trainer and just gets refilled time after time without washing.

i only use water in my bottle on my trainer.

If i had to hazard a guess it probably only gets cleaned once a week.

otherwise its reused 2 or 3 times during the week without cleaning.

I have never had any issues, but i cannot stop and wonder if this is maybe a slightly silly thing to do.

I think you must be more worried about the source of the water than your bottles....

You are alone on this one. Clean your bottles after every use.

If you're worried, chuck it in the freezer between uses... Cold water, and mostly sanitary too...

Bleach every couple of months and you're good to go.

My gym bottle goes car > quick rinse and refill at gym > use for workout > car and repeat. Bottle gets swapped out for a 'new' one monthly if that.

Call it stomach training for the day you end up resorting to dodgy water en route.

I'm not so diligent with washing mine, but I use clean filtered water and any leftover water doesn't smell weird or grow green scum, so I reckon it's ok.

If cleaning means putting tap water in it and giving the bottle a quick shake, then yes, I clean after every use.

I save the dishwasher till I can see and have named all the little bugs growing inside

Me too. Except for the rinse, just drink the last bit of left over water from the day before, then refill.

So far so good.
