Patchelicious Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 It’s not what I would buy for home. It’s an option when you braai or go to Spur. When the other option is a bowl of onion rings or “eat some chicken it’s salad”. Mojoman, Chris_ and Wayne Potgieter 3

stefmeister Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Been in SA for a little bit. Had to go to a braai, bought some Beyond patties from Woolies (yussus R140 for 2) and it was great. Was forced to Go to Spur today, again Beyond burger. South Africans are running out of excuses to reduce meat intake. So you're basically advocating we eat processed food instead. Where's Odie, I miss reading wHoLe-fOod-pLaNt-BasED!!!

Josh_the. Man Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 How many girls do you expect here with distasteful comments like these? You know that it's just us guys. How many girls do you see in the cradle on a Saturday morning?
Josh_the. Man Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Any of you guys use 32Gi products? I just found out that 32Gi's recovery protein shake consists of 95% pea protein. Pea Protein is an intermediate fast digesting protein for complete absorption & stability Gluten, Soy, Egg and Lactose Free but not 'milk' free.
geomark Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 Had the Fry's spicy sausages and the burger patties over the weekend. Sausages really not great and not at all sausage likes, can see them as a veg dip with tzatziki maybe. Burgers not bad. Patchelicious 1
BaGearA Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 how's the lockdown been for you guys , anything more difficult to get ? Have any of you had to make changes because of the lockdown ?
MrJacques Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 Perfect time for this thread, seeing that we can't meat together during lockdown Patchelicious 1
Grass Muncher Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 how's the lockdown been for you guys , anything more difficult to get ? Have any of you had to make changes because of the lockdown ? I had a drastic change in my diet seeing how much food your body actually needs. People think that you burn all the food you eat when you're actually just burning very little calories.

Grass Muncher Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 How did you change it?I cut back on unnecessary carbs at dinner. Eat way less lentilsI rearly eat vegan meat and tofu now. Statistics say that the average American consumes 3 times the needed protein that's actually needed. According to my weight (62kg) I only need between 80 and 100grams of protein depending how hard I trained that day. A normal male who doesn't train only needs 56grams (according to Tom Bell) My normal daily eating habits:14 tbsp (bowl) dry oats 20gr protein3 slices brown bread 8gr proteinPeanut butter 3tbsp 21gr proteinAppel and banana 1 cup lentils cooked 18gr proteinHalf cup rice 2.5gr proteinHalf serving vegan gorilla gainer 12gr protein after 6pm workout 1.5 cups of veg (broccoli /spinach) 8gr protein with little bit of pasta TOTAL: 85grams Protein Your body can only absorb 20-25grams of protein at a time. It may sound like alot of food but it really isn't. According to studies plant based proteins absorbs better than meat protein so you need less. Chris_ 1

Do you just cycle (maybe a silly question seeing as what this is the bikehub...) or what training do you do?

Thanks, first time I got a complement about my diet, all I hear from my friends is how big of a pu$$# I am for being a vegan. I don't cycle as often as I did but I'll do: 1 or 2 interval workouts a week, with 2 medium-rides adding up to 5hr1 weight-lifting workout where I only gym my legs Will do a bit of kickboxing here and there when I feel like it. I don't have a lot of muscle but hopefully I'll see improvement with time.

The best thing about having such a simple and 'written down in black & white' diet is how easy and fun (if you're like me) it is to experiment. You can change 1 small thing, whether to substitute a food type or change quantity and then see and feel a real difference. And then try something else, and then something else as you keep learning. Its cool.
