Oops

I can only imagine the sinking feeling they must have felt, whoever was sitting behind the controls

Appears to have been an engine test gone wild.

But that's coming out of someone's pay packet.

Trust me they don’t pay mechanics that much

They might be promoted to the washing and de icing department

Man I enjoy this thread.

What are all your thoughts on the demise of the A380 program? Sad, even though it was sort of to be expected I suppose.

I do find it funny that most of the articles paint the situation as if they won't be flying at all anymore and will be mothballed and never seen again. It sad to see it stop production I guess, but guarantee we will still see them flying for many years to come.

Great aircraft that - and I must say that I really like Dassault's latest, the Rafale, beautiful lines.

I see the A380 orders are being cancelled and the production line is expected to close ...its just not economical to operated cf the latest twins.

Hopefully the ROI means that they will need to stay in operation for some time.

Worked out that I spent more than 300 hours on the A380 last year, and it’s really made the commute bearable. The smoothness of the flight and noises levels are amazing.

Yes its just the production is ending in 2021, the nail in the coffin was Emirates reducing their order so its no longer economical for airbus to keep the A380 production line open.

As the Airbus CEO said recently, the development of this behemoth was perhaps too late - wide body composite twins evolved to be much more economical to operate. Also it was originally optomised for  large scale hub-based carriers, and only Emirates really materialised in this regard.

it's certainly not an engineering failure and apparently its very agile to fly.

Two gripens flew over my office yesterday and today. Actually, they came screaming over my office.

That noise.

Oh.

My.

I nearly had a crisis.

And today I got to see them. Pretty and noisy. [emoji108]

the Armed Forces Day celebrations ate ongoing. With a night shoot at Muizenberg on Monday and Tuesday. I assume the Gripens will be part of this as they have apparently been practicing there this week.
