Does doping exist in SA?

Recommended Posts

yeah, cycling is totally dope.

Even on Zwift, okes are "plying with their weight and ftp"

(Btw i'm a 19 year old girl on Zwift, that only weighs 42kg)

How about the guys who come on the Hub and brag about their sub 6.8kg Cannodales and then go races in UCI licensed categories.

Hi everyone.

I’ve been reading through the forums for quite some time now and I’ve finally decided to make an account.

I’ve been mountain biking for a few years now.

I was chatting to a friend of mine and we always hear about international doping scandals and we were super interested if doping actually exists in South Africa?

I have no intent to dope and I believe that doping shouldn’t be legalised in the sport to “level the playing field”. I’m just simply curious about it in SA.

Doping is more prevalent in the Vets where it's about bragging rights :whistling:

LOL

I suspect online doping is more rife than in the real cycling world

nee vettes.

there is a difference between doping and dopping

doping is the one with needles

dopping is the one with the klippies en coke

And the Dopper is the dude who does the announcing at the start of the said race and also the one who will make you feel really *** when he asks why you were out training and not in kerk on Sunday mornings.

Yes.

Shan Wilson has been systematically supplying a multitude of amateur and pro cyclists for decades. There are countless others. Kevin Evans, Rourke Crouser, Max Knox and a heap of other SA cyclists all on the naughty boys and girls list.

There are unfortunately hundreds of filthy cheats out there and plenty of people willing to aid and supply

Does anyone have Shans number? Just so that I can be certain to avoid him.

It always puzzles me......guys in the Vets doping or shall we call it alleged doping.

You have to be really really really really really **** if you have to take galopsop just to beat the Vets racing in SA.

Isn't doctor Ferrari residing in the Cape these days?

Doesn't half the international pro peloton train in the Cape over Decembers?

Our only WADA lab was also out of action for a couple years

Then you look at all the guys who have been caught, inspite of their actually being very little in the way of testing. There are also not many guys on the blood passport which is probably the only way to really try keep things in check these days...

Yeah sure, nothing to see here...

OCR doesn't have testing yet if you looking for something to have fun with?

Just imagine testing at a CrossFit gym or games  :w00t:

Must say I've never seen anything at Trail Running either... heck, barely even in road running.

Anti-doping as they say, is just the perception of clean sport...

There is quite a bit of testing at the games, with some athletes having titles stripped from them in the last few years. But I imagine that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Apparently there was NO dope testing at SA road champs for any  category  ...

Can anyone confirm if that was true ??

I wonder, some of the peeps at Myrun is really really serious...luckily I do it with my 8 and 13 year old, so chances are I will not get asked for a sample, when I finally break the course record...

Not sure about the girls on Saturday.

That's a bloody shocker... but not terribly surprising.

Hopefully all the budget went to out of comp tests in the weeks leading up to the race...

Or at the very least they could of been watching the local BiCarb suppliers
