Hi guys. Im thinking about getting a pair.of Magic marys. I mostly ride rocky, technical terrain but i also have to do the k2c again this year. Are they slow tyres for the k2c or will they be good for the hectic climbs waiting in the k2c? Thanks.

Dude...Magid Mary Snakeskin front and Supergravity rear. Holy Hell they are an amazing combo. For K2C yeah you can keep the front on as front doesn't make THAT much diff,  but it will be a dog on the rear for 97km.

About to order a Mary SG for the rear for me too. The support and protection that Super Gravity casing provides is absolutely amazing. DH level support and pro but about 100g per tyre less mass.

They will be great on the 13km down hill but for the rest they will definitely suck a bit more power. But hey I have seen guys on dual fat bikes ride the k2c. So can't see why not obviously there's loads of better tyres for the job.

This. For K2C I'd definitely get a different rear as the Mary is a bit of a dog out at the back and you'll sacrifice a lot of watts to keep it spinning. But that's just for one race and you can't really consider a tyre based on that one race you do once a year.

Mary all the way.

Are you going to be 'racing' Kevin Evans for the win though?

IMHO him and Davey George have it sewn up, so realistically buy some tires that suit what you ride every day, not what you will ride once a year...

Get the MM/Assegai/aggressor, enjoy K2C as a participant and just get on with life.

Can't believe I am saying this .... but if you want the MM's, get the MM's and source an inexpensive faster rolling tyre for when you want to do a marathon / xc type event.

Keep an eye out on the classifieds if your budget is on the tighter side of things as you could find a very lightly used tyre for a great price.

How bad are your old tyres? Maybe get the Mary’s but only put the front one for now and the better of your existing tyres (or more suitable one) on the back, then after the k2c go full Mary.

From a somewhat side angle, will you be using this bike to train for K2C, or are you planning to just rock up and ride?

If you are planning on getting in some miles and mountains between now and race day, your tires are going to feel the burn. If you plan to just rock up and ride, your legs are going to feel the burn.

Consider that when deciding which rubber to purchase.

I put in some long preparation rides for K2C last year and Argus this year, and just about killed my rear tire.
