EBike, whatever, just don't get in front of me on the single track if you don't know what you doing. I might end up getting banned from the races after that.

Rule #1 - don’t be a knob

100% I couldnt care about ebikes in a race but dont dare pass me on a climb then hold me up on ST , things will get ugly.

As for E bike knocking me down from 987th to 993rd in the results....... who cares.

Ugly how?

Bicycles are human powered. The whole idea of a race is to compare one human to another in terms of performance. The moment we start allowing eBikes at races we are now removing the human element and we are now comparing performance of batteries and motors to each other.

I say, if its a bicycle event, eBikes should not be allowed. If eBikes want to compete at events they can do one of two things:

  1. Register with SA Motorsport and start a new electric category. We already have Formula E for single seater cars, lets have a eMotorX section for these guys on their eBikes. The technology is there, they can develop eBikes that don't have cranks. They can even have cool things like energy recovery systems when they brake on downhills and push to pass to give extra power when passing on single track. Heck, they can even have a category for them on the Dakar
  2. Start their own events where they don't get in the way of the humans pedaling their arses off to get up that hill.

no need for different events or venues, because riding an ebike really is like riding a mtb.

That's like saying riding a MX Bike is the same as riding an ebike ... its not even close.

If I have to push 400watts vs your ebike assisted 400watts (250 watts ebike and 150 watts human powered) how can that even compare? I will be buggered and you will still be "enjoying" your "fun ride" long after ive dropped a lung trying to hold on!!

almost can't believe this totally stand alone e bike thread is on 146 post already, it will rival that "apartheid bicycle thread" by the end of today.

So can we then deduce that e-bikes charge people up even more than THAT topic?

hectic lol

maybe we can assist you in peddling some of them...

That would be cheating. I measure my puns purely on my own ability...as soon as someone starts with those E-puns, I really lose all sense of humor.

but they are still puns?...they are just more efficient now ^_^

Judging by your second response its obvious that you have a very very large chip on your precious shoulder.

If you bothered to actually comprehend what i was saying in my first post its very frustrating to wait for a ebike rider on a downhll single track after he zipps  past you on an uphill.  If you cannot figure out why then you dont ride MTB.  Downhill singletrack is what makes MTB fun its not fun sitting hard on the brakes all the way down.  Imagine everyone waiting 30 seconds in a race to give the guy upfront a head start what a bottleneck that would create, so your question is actually stupid and doesnt deserve an answer.

As for your bakkie chirp , dude maybe get help as i think i know what you trying to say but rather have the balls to say it .

If you are after the 'fun' aspect of mountain biking, whether uphill or downhill, then give the races a miss

that was until the golfers started taking it over and all of a sudden there were people screaming at other people on the single track. Once the "boytjies" arrived on the scene it made MTBing less fun.

Hahahahaha!    What about a "boytjie" on a e-bike ?
