Robbie has a jig type Machine and will be able to tjoon and Push both for your personal riding style. Then you just get on and ride, no fiddling. Mine are both going to Pee Eee very soon. You can even have Kashima stanchions changed to black ND Tuned ones, if you want it all black and stealth.

This is a rare sensible advice thread - ok so the plan is to stick with the Ohlins and if I feel I want to start doing crossups and shouting "rad", reign in the travel on the Ohlins and fine tune it for my more moderate "style"

If you start doing that then keep doing what you're doing!

Can we vote for a fred title change? Since it’s not hypothetical anymore?

Maybe something along the lines of:

“Sensible advice for a one-off dream build”- Mamil style #No’Duro. Haha

I wonder if I create a thread about a hypothetical project, if the universe will pick up what i’m putting down?

Is that the SECRET?????????

Good idea. Maybe you find you like the longer travel just fine and if you don't you still have the Unno said 120mm will work ace up your sleave.

I am a firm believer of dreaming/believing my way in sh*t.  Dream until your dreams come true but keep working along the way

And I wanted to change the thread title but don't know how

Wayne, def ask Unno for recommended shock settings for you. Guerilla gravity obliged when I bought their frame. Their settings are spot on and I have not even fiddled with anything since the first ride.

Congrats as well, cant wait for the ride reviewS!!!

Hi Wayne

I really enjoy your project because I like knowing about the thought process that goes into a build.

About the slightly longer travel set up, my experience has always been that a little extra never hurts. If you set it up to use its full travel it will be pretty capable on just about any trail, but if you stiffen it, it will only use part of the travel 99% of the time. When you then do hit something biggish, be it a jump you didn't expect, or a washed out rut that wasn't there yesterday, that bit of extra travel can save your bacon. It is always handy to have, just in case. If it adds minimal weight, then I see no negative.

If Unno don't confirm my purchase and take my money today one of these is coming to SA

Frame only

Business must be brisk in Europe that I have to beg people to take my money

A good thing that you did not end up with the Mondraker, I see they did away with the kinked top tube for their latest hardtail. Their full-susser will probably go that way too.

120mm travel is the sweet spot for SA riding, imo, for everybody except the sponsored riders.

In that case, call on Jewbacca for his flannel supplier...

my thought process is Schizophrenic

I have never "hit" a jump in my adult life, that's what my Trickstuff brakes are for

I'm not a lightweight but I enjoy climbing and do so ok so I really don't want something that can't climb.

But I have a masterplan - I live on 3 hectares, one of which I don't use as it was full of alien tress (wattle and blackwood)  I have been clearing this for a year and had planned to build a cottage for holiday letting - That idea has been cancelled by my other half as she doesn't want people around whereas I think we need the income.  So I have her snookered now.........private pump track/trail!  I can upskill in my garden  Got a trail builder coming this weekend and then I'm going to beg my local farmer mate to bring his machines

This has not been passed or discussed yet but she's pretty mellow and has just said no to the income earning cottage so I think I pull this off.

:D I know a guy who once sold the house without telling his wife. The first she heard about it was when the new owner wanted to have his architect check it out to start renovation plans. He was in the dog box big time, but when she saw the new place he bought she forgave him and they are still married. If I try pull a stunt like that I'll be dead before forgiveness can come into play. But a pump track in the backyard.......just a totally reasonable thing to do!

Nope they have kept the kink on the suspension bikes or this one anyway

This is the F Podium 2021 launched on the 11th of August

It's just close to impossible to buy as a frame only option currently - I had arranged to buy one made up and then strip and sell the parts but that became a mission. Plus I know if I have a full bike's worth of parts I will end up with another bike.  And then I won't like the parts so I will then blow money I don't have on upgrades I don't need on a bike I don't need

This is how my brain works, it's so tiring

Mine is totally supportive of the cycling although she has no interest.  As she loves telling everyone when she met me I was a slim blonde surfer in boardshorts and now I'm running around in bright lycra with a little belly

She likes the gravel bike because she knows where I ride.

Not a fan of the MTB because she came along to 2 stage races.  I broke my wrist on the one and ruined the holiday that followed and then on the next one I crashed 3 days in a row, broke nothing but looked a mess.  So clearly I'm rubbish and need a home track to upskill for safety reasons
