That’s the first time I’ve seen a crack like that. I’m sure a skilled aluminium welder can sort that one out but you will need to get the tube machined again to ensure the headset fits perfectly.

You need a new frame. If you bought it new you should have a warranty. Talk to a Scott dealer. You can't weld aluminium without heat treating it afterwards. Which no one does.

An Epic fix - a couple cable ties round the head tube and problem solved :clap:  :clap: .

 

Jokes aside, as others have mentioned, would look at a replacement frame as too risky trying to repair.

 

Is there not a possibility of a warranty claim?

Did something happen to make it crack like that ?

 

Was it a JRA incident or a form of spontaneous combustion/deconstruction ?

And out of curiosity the Scott road frames cracked in a similar way but both top and bottom headset seat cup seats cracked. Have welded quite a few of them.
