What is the best option to Live Stream the Tour de France.

From what I can see you need a VPN and then subscribe to one of the overseas broadcasters.

Any other better options available

I coughed up the subscription for the GCN app as I already have a VPN. Works great ad haven't had it stop, buffer or delay once. Yes it costs but for all the races so far this season and 3 grand tours I think it's a good deal especially as it does't have any adverts and won't hang as they come under the flame Rouge and kick back in once the guys are on the podium.

Thing is have Supersport and decided to go with GCN!

I normally reinstate my DStv to watch the TDF but since I've now got fibre I'm certainly not going that route this year.

What VPN are you using (I'm assuming you're SA based), anything to look out for?

Any idea what feed GCN are using?

Thanks

They are in conjunction with Eurosport.  I watched via Eurosport and throughout the Criterium du Duphine it was often mentioned Eurosport/GCN.

Matt Stevens from GCN was the co-comintator

For a VPN, I used Getflix (Nov-17 to Nov-19), and didn’t renew, because it stopped working. Their support could resolve the problem - blamed my ISP for blocking the DNS.

I then tried NordVPN last month, and after a long 90-min call with their support, I was able to resolve the problem that Getflix couldn’t. I was able to login to the Sporza.be website on my phone by changing my VPN login server to Belgium.l, while still watching Eurosport on the desktop.

I am currently in a one month trial with the Eurosport player, but you need to have a valid credit card in the country that Eurosport broadcasts. It doesn’t just have to be the U.K. as most EU countries also work. My brother paid for the subscription (UK card) and I will reimburse him later this year. I’m waiting for possible Black Friday specials and hopefully get a 2-3 year deal at a good price. I then only have to pay him once. Then I’ll be sorted for the normal cycling season.

The GCN option seems to work with my iTunes in-app purchase, but I’m reluctant to try it when I already have another subscription going. Will try them when my Eurosport option ends.

Do you watch it on your phone/TV/Tablet/PC? How do you subscribe? Idea woudl eb to watch it on my big TV but doubt my TV will have this app on it.

As far as I understand the GCN App on your phone allows you to cast to a Smart TV or to a Google Chromecast.

Does your TV have that functionality?

Matt Stephens was definitely my favourite GCN presenter so that's a positive.

As long as it isn't that Brit that was often the initial commentator on the feed DStv got (replaced with a feed specific team normally within 30min) for non-tdf coverage. He has the ability to make everything sound less exciting than watching paint dry!

Out of interest did you consider ExpressVPN? They seem to pop-up whenever I look into VPN options?

Payment with a non-SA card is going to be problematic..[emoji3525]

I'm running ExpressVPN and it works well. Good live support and has solved the issues with BBC player the were making me think twice. Does what it's supposed to and that is all I can ask really.

GCN are tied in with Eurosport. It's stated on their apps and it seems Euro might have a stake in the GCN group now.
