Busy day at the office, only called them now .... no more stock of the Rekon 2.6 ....

The Spez 3.0 looks super nice .... wonder if it will fit ....

Some shops in JHB have Rekon 2.6, I could get and ship up to you if you want?

Don't expect anything spectacular Black Friday deals in cycling/general outdoors stuff overall. Besides taking as much, if not more strain as other industries through lockdown. There has been a worldwide boom in outdoor activities, especially cycling.
With manufacturing taking a knock and scaling back on labour/resources, it's led to a global shortage in a lot of stuff and manufacturers are only talking about catching up to demand by 2022.
One brand I spoke to have revised their stock down and had the factories readjust down again, upto 20%
They literally cannot tool up and meet demand.

Same for the surf industry.

Boards are flying off the shelf and shapers world wide can't actually get stock of the raw materials needed to keep up with demand.

Epoxy, carbon cloth, alu, foam etc is super difficult to get as shipping avenues are affected, which affects the basic manufacturing along with staff cuts, which in turn needs to be shipped through the same infringed shipping lanes......

The cycle from the ground up is still broken, so while demand skyrockets, supply dwindles.

It must be hell for these factories seeing all the money they 'could' be making while people cry over empty shelves

So how many "we actually don't have stock of the item/s you bought and paid for" emails have you received.? :(

Yeah, I had this issue. Disappointing to say the least

Ja, and it's all compounded by stringent pandemic protocols. One postive in a factory and CCP shut it down for full clean out and disinfection.

Or like what happened on a shipment that arrived recently. During a crew transit one of the sailor crew tested positive. So upon arrival the ship and crew are quarantined at port. Another two week delay.

None yet but one price change in my basket as I was checking out.....

Price went up +R2000-00

sent them a FU email

2 of the 3 orders have arrived. One of the two with a small issue as they sent the wrong item.

The third order is delayed due to a lot of black friday orders so the store is struggling to manage. Hopefully they'll send out this week.

I must say, I got some steals in the surf side of things pre Black Friday after lockdown but couldn't even find a leash on special come November.

Old season wetsuits seemed to be on special alot even pre Black Friday. I got a 4/3 Ripcurl Heatseeker for R3k and a buddy picked up the 4/3 E7 Ebomb for R3200 and those are usualy north of about R4500. QS seemed to be clearing out stock as well. Local shapers seemed to be having a hard time and I was happy to support them with a new Dutchie longboard for the berg and a Dutchie twin pin mid length for about what you'd pay for an import.

It might be that alot of people also discounted stock when we came out of lockdown just to try to get some money on the till.

Bike side I didn't even really look apart from to see if there were any gravel bike deals around and there were basically none.

Plenty of 2.6 vittoria here:

https://nsquared.co.za/collections/mtb-tires

Also some 2.6 Panaracer here:

http://summitbikes.co.za/index.php?id_product=1202&controller=product&search_query=Panaracer&results=2

And at those prices probaly half of what a maxxis stockist will charge you for a “fringe size tire”

And then also...a maxxis 2.6 isnt is more like a proper 2.4 lol

Thanks, will check out their range.

Should clarify though .... the Giant comes with 27,5 rims.

Most likely will end up asking Mark to get me some tires ....

My typical approach .... keep an eye out for a special, then take my business to Mark. The value of EXCELLENT service, and valuable feedback far outways small savings ...

Bike will be going to him shortly for a fork service ....
