Mine wasn't, its not even listed under seeding events. They are still using 99er from last year with the penalty applied.
EGranted, I literally ‘placed’ last year in the half distance lol. Think I got 4th in my age group or something

not surprised, but very disappointed, all the races are flat, we finally had something a bit challenging and don't get me wrong, I'm not a climber, just excited for the challenge. I asked them a week ago on facebook to confirm the route as 99er has avoided Vissers for 2 years I thought it was weird they decided to race there, and they confirmed (almost giving the "duh !"). Wednesday I rode Tikkie and realised there was roadwork there too, thinking maybe it was so that we have nice roads for the race (How naive, I know...), but no, looks like municipalities agreed to the race, then decided they were going to do road works on roads they allowed cycling races to happen on. This really is clown land I guess

Us fatties hope that Vissers will never return 😂 and that goes for 99er and Tour de PPA

There's all the other races without Vissers or any mean climb for that matter !

Hopefully now Tour du Cap sticks to the routes they sold us and CTCT stays as we know it ;)

If I recall the reason 99er no longer does Vissershok is because riders got a bit unruly on the N7, especially in the last few ones that got on at Philadelphia. Back in 2011 when I rode my first one (short 50km route) there were signs on the N7 to only ride in single file. Yeah, good luck getting roadies to do that in a race.

There was this one time it used Malanshoogte with a short section of gravel and it was fun! I still rode a road bike back then and had no issues. Yet complaints were plentiful afterwards.

So... I guess now it is what it is. I liked last year which is why I am back again.

There also was a petition doing the rounds from the neighborhoods and people using Vissers on a daily basis, to have the surface sorted out (for obvious reasons). I'm sure this carries more weight than a cycle race or two.

The bigger problem is the Van Schoorsdrif road between Philadelphia and Vissershok which is what was used for the original route - that road has now deteriorated beyond usefulness for a road race.

That is why the organisers were trying out detours along the N7 and Malanshoogte before they decided on the Kalbaskraal road

I don't see Vissershok included again until Van Schoorsdrif is fixed (and that doesn't seem to be on the cards for the foreseeable future)

PS - I actually always enjoyed the bumpy challenge of Van Schoorsdrif in race conditions, always big attacks & bunches scattering there

At least it's getting done. And once it is safe to ride there again, you can ride it 365 days a year, if you are so inclined. One or two races is a fair trade, I would say. 😇

Vissers is a bit terrible outside of a race because there's no shoulder and the drivers are very impatient (even going down at 95kph you'll find white bakkies trying to overtake you (it's always white bakkies of course)).

But that PPA route was really interesting, the old 99Er route I agree, a bit problematic using that Zone 7 road in a race followed by a bit of N7.

Anyone going to collection later at the racecourse who could do me a solid??

I E-mailed the chairman of the 99er and he replied saying I can do a substitution tomorrow morning as my mate has pulled out, All I need is the original seeding E-mail he got and a letter stating he would like to transfer his entry to me, So I have all of that info already. The issue is 1 of my mates have left there now and he said the lady said the substitutions are only open till 6pm this evening and they won't be doing them tomorrow morning. Is there anyone who can do the substitution for me at registration today, I will send you all the info you need then I will just collect my number tomorrow morning as usual? Please gents. Please DM me.

I will obviously pay for the substitution myself, just need someone to get them to do it on their system at registration is what I mean.

Are you allowed to start in a different group? For instance say someone is in E but wants to ride with someone in G, can the G go up to E or does E have to go down to G?
