I haven't ever really like the guy but kudos to him for backing himself, riding through the injuries and illness and finally snagging a stage - against pretty decent competition too.

Good for him. His TdF record speaks volumes and to see a ride of his caliber suffering isn't great.

 

Also, tour of Turkey sees the return of Fabio Jakobsen. I can't imagine the monsters he's facing on the bike.

I was convinced last week when he was behind Bennet that he was soft peddling as not to pass Sam and upset him. This proves my point.

I'm a huge fan - he may have been cocky in his hey day but always thanked his team mates and most ex team mates speak highly of the man

 

I saw a Matt Stephens interview with him and he just loves riding a bike and came across a nice a guy.

 

Sure its not nice to see a champ fade but that's not a choice for the fans but rather the sportsperson

 

I am on record saying he's not done but that was more hopeful than anything. Even a broken clock is right twice a day

I am very happy. Look I like this guy, there is no bs with him, he tells it like it is. When he was winning everything this came across as arrogant, but through his subsequent struggles he maintained the same level of honesty.
