Hi,

I'm comparing the 2022 and 2023 Titan Cypher Rs Sport Dual Suspension Aluminium Mountain Bike.

For R5000 less the 2022 model seems like a good deal.

The only differenced I could spot are:

- Front shock: 100mm - 120mm

- Handlebar: Flat 760mm - Riser 782mm

- Seat post

Is there a weight difference?

Doesn't seem major. Why would I make a mistake if I purchase the 2022 model?

I'm 60 years old and don't do serious mountain biking.

I'd hazard a guess that the 2023 model is aimed more at trail riding (down hill single track stuff) and the 2022 is for the flatter outrides on normal dirt roads

The 120mm and riser bars will give you a feeling of riding uphill all the time, but might add a softer feel to the ride.

If the only difference is the 120mm travel.

If you go with the 100mm it might only be a matter of removing a spacer in the fork and shock. R5000 saving @droo will know the answer to this.

At 60 and not serious, go for the one with the most travel. And that's not the RS of either year, it's just the standard Cypher which has 120mm front and rear. More squish = better, unless you're competing or a masochist.

You can get the RS and convert it - as Jono says, it's just a matter of removing a spacer each from the shock and fork - but that's going to cost you a visit to a suspension techie, so rather just get the proper thing from the start.

If you are not a serious mountain biker, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference between 100 and 120mm (I know I wouldn't)

I say save the R5k and get last year's model.

Ride them both, you'll be surprised.

Standard Cypher has 120mm and a dropper and RS (Race Spec) has 100mm and no dropper.

I've got a Dash RS 2021 or soemthing, I don't go jumping 3 stories down but hit a few small jumps that feel like it but are probably 100mm off the ground and the 100mm travel is ample.

I looked at the new Cypher Sports at Cycle Lab on Saturday... That blue is just ❤️❤️❤️❤️ like it's alrrady been said, it's probably just a spacer so if it really bother you,  take them out..  But I say go with the R5k saving for gear and get the 100mm travel one.

Enjoy your new bike 👌👌👌

Where are you based and where will you ride? Terrain makes a big difference.

The first thread in the history of the bike hub that something else wasn't suggested other than what the OP was asking about and then OP gets something else. Love it! 😂

Thank you for all the valuable feedback. Highly appreciated.
I end up buying a second-hand Giant Anthem Advanced X.
Obviously time will tell whether it was the right choice but for now I really enjoy the bike.

Great choice...not that there's anything wrong with the Titans you were considering.
