Can't risk it. Maybe bowls would be a safer option.

The way they drink at bowls clubs - the booze is stupidly cheap - getting out of the parking lot is rather risky...

OH the days of bowls club. Many a name was scattered across the manicured greens.

OH the days of bowls club. Many a name was scattered across the manicured greens.

Years ago, an old family friend of my ex-wife's died and they had a bowls day in his memory. They day started by scattering his ashes on the main green. My kids were very little then...they thought that looked like fun and tore off after the family as they did their solemn farewell...

Well, the place was in stitches. Old Tommy would have killed himself laughing, his friends said. Which I thought an odd thing to say, considering...

I can't remember who told my boys what it was that they spread over that green...

Anyhows, back on topic...sorta...here's something from a ride today. Among those commemorated in Benoni's Walk of Fame is a bowler known more for being blind than blind drunk...

Charlize is there too, but even she is flanked by sports peeps: Andre Watson and Kobus Wiese.

Went to check out the trails at Hennops. I think maximum distance is about 20km, but there's good potential to add more. The first 3-4km we were laughing as it felt as if we were riding around someone's backyard in circles, eventually after the suspension bridge it got a lot more interesting.

There's bits of trail you share with hikers and 4x4ers but we didn't encounter too many. Some rocky climbs and descents. On some of the downs, I was arse back and holding on for dear life, others I weighed up pain versus shame and walked.

A couple of cattle gates scattered around, I have a few issues around these but managed a few of them, though some require lifting the wheel up and on - yeah that didn't happen, OH didn't do them either so I wasn't gonna try.

Didn't see any animals other than cows and monkeys. Some pretty scenery and for unfit scaredy cats, some hairy bits - but fun all around. R60 for the day.

Well, all the stars finally aligned and I got the chance to go meet a few fellow hubbers and ride with them at Jonkershoek today. Been trying to get my sh@t together for months to go out that way again.

Unfortunately I didn't get pic's on the first loop we rode together (this bunch was to fast), but grabbed a few on my second loop. af42bc9ebe266ad3fe7baa50aea7ebcb.jpg299fe2d3e21c0d6518e45390fd0ffe5a.jpg0fdd2bf2cfde80771398fc38d530069c.jpg
