Spent the whole day, 8 to 5 riding in those mtns, scouting for trails for our local MTB ride in November. Absolutely finished now.

Hellshoogte on an ss? That would be good.

Ou Helshoogte no problem. First part of Helshoogte on other side a bit difficult but manageable.

Not sure where I should post this picture, but we found this little chap while we were scouting the tracks. His/her mom dissapeared into some bolders, and left it. We took the pics and rode away, Lynx kit.

Just hope that none of your sheep farmer friends ever find this post or you may find yourself in hot water. ;) Good on you for leaving a very beautiful creature alone.

I am a sheep farmer, just couldn't dispose of it. Feral cat I would have no qualms disposing of, but this chap belongs here. Told my buddy he'd better not tell anyone. Too late though, pic is on facebook.

Ha ha, better sell up and move to Canada if they'll take you (no chance Oz). You're never going to hear the end of this. Maybe all's not lost, you could always make new friends with the (many) game farmers in your neck of the woods. ;)

I see the Linx on Table Mountain from time to time and I marvel that they have survived despite what civilization threw at them the last few hundred years. My Karoo family and friends can't understand that I'm happy for them to have some of my Springbok lambs every year. Maybe the fact I don't have to make my living from it helps?

Rooikat.

Very very cool

I have been fortunate enough to see them wild as well.

Bumped into one while riding to Kommetjie from Scarborough on Slangkop to buy bread early one morning

The other time was hiking in Malalotja. They get quite big.

Another spin along the Gariep dam whilst visiting the folks. Would've been a very chilled out ride in a very chilled out area if wasn't for the not-so-chilled-out ostrich that chased me. I've ridden there a lot, mostly alone, and this was a first. Will definitely be a little more weary in future.

Still, good times. At the moment I'm in my car on the N1, somewhere between Bloem and Kroonstad, and would much rather be on my bike in the Karoo.

Out and about in Walkerville south of Jobeg, unfortunately it would seem our days of enjoying the trails up by the 'infamous' black wattle climb have come to an abrupt end .....

Can't recall having been up here before. Maybe you need to go and show me sometime.

Longmore Forest, just outside PE - Jeffreys Bay to the left and the start of the Baviaans to the right!
