I forgot to mention in my rush to get the van packed and loaded, I fell off the ladder getting something on the roof rack. Thank Goodness no injuries.

Everything checked and ready to go.

I arrive at the Trail park and realise I dont have my hydration pack. I left it in Cape Town, sitting on the chair after my ladder incident. I dont like last minute plans.

I dont have much pics of the Reception area of the trail park, as I was trying to figure out a plan for some water. The shop was still closed. Chatted to a fellow rider and he pointed out an empty bottle and the filtered water supply.

I was on my  own finally at the trail park, ready to see what is on offer.

After a long easy farm road climb I entered the trail. I was pleasantly surprised. Starting off on single track and berms galore.

As I was riding this introduction to the trail park, I wondered what happened to the loop of doom, "hmm didnt see it at the reception area, maybe it was taken down"

where to now, I forgot to take note of the map in my quest for a water solution. fortunately the weather was awesome.

One thing I enjoyed and which stood out the most was riding in the forest under canopy was so cool. Cool as in temp cool.

Pine forest offer up shade but tend to be humid, this forest canopy was a blessing.

Unfortunately not for a few people, check the collision mark on the tree.

I just started riding and I was already stoked. Plenty of single track on offer, plenty of berms and super nice flow.

Then I see it, for those who have not been there. The magnitude of this loop is not even on another level.

It is beyond ludicrous, it is evidence of what the overseas riders are riding. Even the dirt jumps after the loop are a massive scale. I reckon its probably about 20 times bigger than whats available at Hoogekraal skills park and the tables on DH3 at Tokai.

SO at the loop there are a few lines, Jungle fever, Crazy Creek and Forest Frenzy.

I am not sure which one to hit, I have heard of Jungle fever being a lekker line, but was also aware of another line called Mountain Mania.

After chatting to some fellow riders, I disovered I have to make my way to the top of the mountain for mountain mania. Aah well I am here now.

I am not sure how long I climbed but it was long, very steep in places and extremely tiring.

Here is some serious potential for a DH line

Mountain mania ends up back at the loop of doom. By the time I got back there I was exhausted and hot. The descent was a long one.

As I was entering Jungle fever, I noted the time. Decided to skip that and hit forest frenzy and back to the trail park reception. Little did I know!!!!

One thing, there is single track for days, but Just when you think wow, this is awesome, you hit with a climb to exit the lower trails.

I was seriously getting parched, I was starting tot get moody as I wanted to get back. At one point the trail looped over itself and I could of kicked myself for not taking that turn as I came back to it 10 min later.

Eventually I made it back, just after 10am. Almost crawled into the reception area, parked my bike and asked the lady, " something xtremely ice cold or lots of ice and the biggest glasss you have please"

LOL she must of thought I was crazy, but I had a delicious milkshake from them and 2 complimentary glasses of ice lemon water.

Trail Park done and dusted. Went to collect the wife and kid and spent the rest of the day in knysna, Sedgfield and Buffels Bay beach toilet break for a surf.

Got back to the digs just before sunset packed the car and we planned to leave around 6am, little did they know. LOL

I think I must have woken around 4h00am, checked the time, told my wife lets go!!!

We were on the road 4h45 andf arrived home 10h00.

All in all a lekker weekend.

The trail park rocks, I am looking forward to doing it again, but I will take my AM HT instead.

Did I mention, I have about 2hrs of video footage, I have no Idea how I am gonna edit this.

Enjoyed your rendition of GRTP. We booked the cottage (just below the loop) between Christmas and New Year with friends (earlier last year we booked over Easter as well).

With the addition of a back packers at the trail center it provides even more accommodation options for GRTP riders and Cross Cape riders as well.

This is fast becoming the premier mtb destination in SA.

I've been promising myself a few times that I am going to ride here, but this year it's on my bucket list as a to do ride.

Thanks, there is just so much to say but tried to keep it as brief as possible. The descents are crazy long. The final one I have on the action cam as 35 min!!!!

We tried for the cottage which is ideal, but it was booked. However our digs was awesome as well.
