If you are doing stuff like this then you are (in my opinion) missing the whole point why the festive 500 was created.
Back in the day indoor did not even count as an activity.

The idea is to get out.  Face the elements.  Do adventures.  Feel the sun (or snow) on your face.
Brain dead, chasing kilometers, indoor sessions are just that.  Kilometers.  Its good but it is not what the challenge is about.

Agreed 100%

Having done both (outdoors and on the IDT) I would say doing the Rapha outdoors has more “gees” and feeling of achievement than doing it on the IDT.

Just stopping for a wee is a challenge when you have been riding outdoors in 0 degrees, layers of clothing and cold….. use your imagination 🔍🔎

Not to take anything away from indoor Raphas, spending that amount of time riding indoors has its own mind bending challenges, but it is open to “cheating”, being it unintentional or knowingly.

24th route was so good I had to do it again - super hot and dry today - awesome to ride with a really strong friend who’s just done the Munga.

I was definitely the nail today 🤣

Strictly speaking its supposed to be for braving the winter elements in the northern hemisphere, so none of us are really doing it properly anyway. But yes we should at least be doing it outdoors.

I can confirm that the challenge is real. Doing this challenge outside here in the north is something else. I braved the mist and 1 degrees C weather yesterday for a 90 km ride. I enjoyed the first hour outside, the rest was less than enjoyable. I will be be back on zwift for the rest of the challenge :)

When you have 20-some gears, there's always going to be a certain amount of mental energy spent deciding if you're in the wrong gear for this particular situation. With a single speed, you can rest easy knowing you're always in the wrong gear.

Still on track .... even a few K's in hand 😎

All things being equal ... Tuesday should be a short final spin with coffee and a hearty breakfast at a local establishment me thinks 😁

You are 100% right ... it was originally setup to ride on the track. Fixed gear, track bars, no brakes

Set it up just for this specifically .... why you may ask? Just because I can I guess 😎

The single speed road bike I normally ride has a 53x18, I set this up with 51x20 .... easier on the legs, a bit anyway
