So. I’ve got this friend, he’s in group 1A. He wants to do a sub 3 hr. His is wondering whether to drop back from 1A to 1B, given it’s got 40+ racing which may create havoc… and last time he rode - 1B caught 1A. Over thinking or worth dropping back? Asking for a friend

Having started in 1A last year and not done a sub 3 i can say that you will probably have to hold the wheel close to the front of the group to get the goal.

Agreed! I barely made a sub-3 from 1A in 2023. Too far back and missed the split at Smitswinkel

Some pictorial inspiration for those who aim to compete or complete in 2 weeks time. And, for those that travel many miles to get the Western Cape - so glad you're making the trip.

All the best with training this week. Last few opportunities to go until your legs explode before the tapering phase of your preparations.

1st time rider. All the racing groups are a bit confusing to me, what kind of vibe / speed should I expect in group 1b?

Basically your seeding will match your speeds to qualify for that group, more or less.

No issue in falling back a bit.

Just know there will be strong riders that missed some seeding events, that will be trying to get past ...

Keep left, only move right for as long as it takes to pass.

The key difference between the racing groups and the seeded groups is that in the racing groups there is a tactical battle sort of like WWE wrestling taking place but you’re in the ring just trying to mind your own business. Each time an opponent it flattened there a tag and hand over and the attacking cycling commences. The real fight starts at SmitsWinkel

in the seeded groups it’s a bar room brawl  with everyone trying to deal everyone else a knockout blow from the start and only the the worthy survive

So still plenty of racing for position rather just working together for a good time then?

Working together for a good time??!? 😂

it’s not called the Funride World Championship for professional funriders for nothing.

Great. Was getting worried there might be too much camaraderie

Stupid question.

I did the tour da PPA yesterday and noticed my seeding improved on the old racetec dot co dot za site.

Is that a reliable source for my CTCT seeding? Or is there another method to view your current seeding. The information about seeding is very opaque.
