Hi all, hoping someone can give me a quick answer. Does one really need to detach your finishtime board from your bike just for registration? Can entry to the expo not be gained by just showing the finishtime WhatsApp message that shows your race number and starting time?

Yup, nobody asked me for my finishtime board

Cool was going to ask the same question.

Would Liesbeek be the safer option? Seeing there has been some issues along Main road?

Also how good are the street lights, can I get there without a front light?

Did you ever get a reply to this? I couldn't find one. Liesbeek is actually a bit more convenient for me, so just wondering if there is a safer option of the two (ie between liesbeek and main).

I took a minute on my phone and did a screen grab of BOTH my race entry notice, as well as my Drivers.

Showed this and walked straight through.  Also used this at the registration table.

Well, if their positions next to the bike in this pic MIRROR their actual positions in the race, then Lady Stoker 1 aint’ seeing ANYTHING of the 108-odd kilometers CTCT, behind that giant of a man!!! ;)

Uhmmmm ... uhmmm ...

YES .... Morne in front, then @SilverRider (Lady 2 ... same height as 1) is the stoker .... on a normal tandem.

They start at 7:00, so if you spot them give a shout out to the Potch-train.

Checking the contents of my Race Pack envelope, it seems like I might miss a few items (if memory serves me right from previous year's envelope contents)

There was the Number you attach to your jersey, 2 x cable ties, 4 x safety pins, a blank "number board" (where your race number gets stuck on and then attached to your handlebars), and the plastic sheeve with the "can you see the cyclist" info. THAT IS ALL.

Quite sure the printed stickers with your race number you put on the plastic board on your handlebar and your medical info you attach to your race number on your back is missing. Or have things changed?

I did not check the race pack when they handed it to me, as it was quite busy with people collecting their race packs, and a person would trust that all the items you need will be included in the race pack.

No reply from CTCT on both my e-mail to them, and my FB post on the post where they were bragging about 2nd day success of the Expo.

Therefore, my actions are as follows: I used the supplied handlebar attachment board and used a black marker to write my race number on it. This will then be attached to my handlebar in the customary fashion.

My race number will be on my back, as required

I'll chuck my medical aid card in my back pocket, just in case.

The "airplane wing" Finish Time chip will be affixed to my seat post, as required.

I deem this to be sufficient identification as a valid entrant and participant in the 2025CTCT.

Aero handlebar ️ Number board

I'm pretty sure it's there for photo identification (don't quote me). Had no issues without one last year.

They made sure you added it last year. They did many people (including mine) manually as we went through to the chutes. Apparently it’s there for safety reasons as well.

Better safe than sorry I guess!

We had to struggle to find a vendor that sells actual cycling parts and tubes. Most of the vendors were meh. Think next time they must just mail me the number.

There were almost no vibe like in the olden days at the Good Hope Centre.

Only got 2 cable ties. Used it for the timing board at the back. Will bring the paper board with tomorrow and they can hopefully sort it out if its mandatory.

Wrapping it with tape seems ugly 💅

First timer. We staying in green point accomodation. Can you walk, ride, all the way to the start, or is it fine driving there, finding parking, somewhere around the start area?
