So, is the race date for next year the 14th? Following the second Sunday in March rule?

Should be.

It has always been the 2nd Sunday, but they got caught out a few years back when someone else* booked the stadium before them so now they are very organised.

*pop quiz - who dis?!

Ouch, that sucks

Water point, 90 degree turn, then that sharp downhill to Scarborough .... nasty crash, high up, just after the first turn ... lady and a gent in the ditch, bikes flung higher up .... still waiting for the ambulance as we passed it ...

Huzzah! I am the lady from the ditch!

Forgot about this one, but still see zero photos on my account.

Anyone believe this?

I have a few showing, had to report one as not being me.

Just 6 photos though, including the group start photo and three at the finish... so works out quite expensive for really just 3 photos that actually matter.

My dad has 20, so that is nice. Even though 6 are at the finish line, there are a few of him that are nice.

i dont see what the difference is this year compare to previous years, there have always been cables in the way and helmet tags not flat. sounds like poor excuses to me.

My guess is they're trialling some AI solution to number recognition and allocation and it's more artificial than intelligent at this stage...

Talking about 14th March 2027...

Say that I wanted to try out this CTCT thing.

Where is the best area to stay that is slightly out of the carnage of central Cape Town / Sea Point / Greenpoint and would allow a simple ride in to the start and back to accommodation afterwards?

Not scared to have a good day out, so 20km ish "warmup" and 20km ish  "cooldown" would be ok.

But for a country bumpkin what area / routes to the start offer the least traffic / chance of getting mugged / lost etc please?

I'll be on an MTB -maybe try fit in some of the gravel / trails that go around table mountain?

Thanks in advance.

they've had the process automated for a long time, but I think you're right, they've probably gone with some new solution that totally threw its toys when it was fed non utopian images

You could come stay in the south, Tokai to Kalk Bay area and catch the train in and ride home. That'll give you fairly easy access to Tokai MTB trails, Constantia greenbelts & Kirstenbosch mtb loop plus be well out of the CBD/Atlantic seaboard"vibe", and give you a relaxed setting. Of course it'll still mean a fairly expensive Uber in & out for registration.

Thanks for this - we’ll have a car likely so registration admin we’ll tie in with a Cable Car trip or Platteklip mission if I really want to murder the legs before the race 🤣

But yes that area sounds really good an the train ride vibes would be awesome I’m sure 🙏
