What are you on about?

This is a thread about littering in pristine mountain areas on racedays because you feel like you have earned the right by paying the entry fee.

Cape epic has a terrible reputation in this regard, because they allow their clients to do it and "someone will go clean up".

If been to trails 2/3 weeks after epic has come through and seen loads there just off the trail, indicating that a clean team swept the area and did a half arsed job.

if you're going to be kumba ya about your tjommies who have dedicated their past year to this race, cool - please tell them to stash their trash.

Can confirm they DO stash their trash.

Okay, in hindsight my comment went too far, and I apologise for any offence it causes. Ek is jammer mense. You all worked hard getting where you are and have a good one.

I won't defend myself. I said what I said. I just hope that Meerendal looks better than the trails on Contermans, and likely elsewhere did last year for weeks after the event.

I don't know where you blokes are riding/racing

I've done a race here on my local trails a while ago (Fast One MTB) and also road (Fast One Road)

I might have seen a few gels and 1 or 2 bottles, that's it .... no 'heaps of trash'

I've also done that 'dick measuring' race we don't speak of ... I don't recall people tossing litter left right and centre

Maar nou ja ... maybe I'm just dof

Last year was my first K2C, and the amount of litter at the water points was shocking.  I got a cup and when I wanted to discard it in a bin, the lady at the water point told me just throw it on the ground.

I assume they will be cleaning up their water point?

Not sure why people are throwing those gel sachets away? They so expensive, that packaging deserves some cred. If you want a new measuring competition. Let’s see who sticks the most gel sachets on the garage wall.🤓🤔🤭

Then when your mates come round you can show them those Tropical Punch ones you dragged up 5 mountain passes and they saved from the Bonk!

This is not just a local thing, these guys are here because there are w@nkers of all passport flavours.

Even a super eco conscious nation like Canada and on Vancouver island nogal

Having the AR world champs in the eastern cape in 2023 we went way off the beaten track, saw so much litter and the europeans were the worst. Someone even did their business(yes, a #2) in the middle of the trail and just left it there for someone to walk onto. Maybe that's why they were faster than us.

At World Champs, on the hike through to the paddle from Somerset East, that m'fer of a hike. Just after the high mountain misty night we were going down through a valley towards the road by the oxwagon camp and there was a high fence with a ladder over and someone had laid a deuce(lets call it 2 days of maurten gels or at least a few thousand calories worth of turd) but they had laid it to rest at the bottom of the ladder right there. I was absolutely disgusted. Couldn't take 2 mins to bury it or kick dirt over even.

Saw the same in Scotland, coming down off the Five sisters of Kintail and one of the Euro teams were about 400m to the right of us, one guy without stopping, on the move dropped a turd didn't even look back or even wipe...

I’ll take a gel wrapper any day of the week over a turd. Pick your poison.😝
