Along the straight ?

Or at that side junction ?

By the cafe Mambo turnoff. Dead straight, flat, widest shoulder you will find in CPT, perfect conditions. Drove past the scene minutes after it happened.

Lots of vehicles and "helpers" on the scene.

A driver has to be blind, drunk or seriously distracted to hit anything at that spot.

🤬

How people still think they can safely cycle on SA roads I don`t know. People need to stop cycling on roads and urban cycle paths, it is not safe, it is not worth the risk, it is EXTREMELY dangerous.

You're not to decide what is worth or not worth it for others. You sound like my mom when she wanted me to stop racing motorbikes.

People should also stop going outside in the sun, as it is also extremely dangerous.

haha I slowed down a lot on that though, even sold my big bike. I decided it wasn't worth all the costs, time and risks anymore (but mostly cost and time). Bicycles are a lot more reliable, and cheap to run !

One day I might decide that training on the road isn't worth the risk anymore, but it will be my decision !

1. Cycle outside

2. Run/walk outside

🤬

Cycled past there this afternoon, both directions.

Such a safe zone .... defies logic how it happened there.

Short distance up the road, the turn to Kraaifontein is consistently a dicy spot.

Hope these two riders are back on two wheels soon

  • 2 weeks later...

On the topic of the skollies in the area of the bike path through Woodstock, can anybody who has been through there in the last two weeks report on whether or not things have changed at all?

Rock & hard place.  N1 traffic is a risk in itself.  Besides, need to get onto Albert Road, and the skollies have been operating on the Lower Church off-ramp anyway.

pick your poison, i feel safer on the N1 and once you have taken the off ramp you can ride in the middle with the traffic.

where are you coming from? and time?

Poison is about right ...  Coming from West Beach, generally in that area some time around 08h30.

there used to be commuter groups from that side, i think covid ruined that, alternatively wait at the robots at the beginning of paarden eiland and wait for a fellow commuter to ride with
